At 12 years old, Eddy Zheng immigrated to Oakland from China. Feeling lost in a new country, he got caught up with friends who were committing crimes and was sentenced to prison at 16. While incarcerated, his determination and desire to learn inspired him to become a community advocate, bridging racial gaps and providing resources to other Asian American prisoners with similar stories.
