🇺🇸 🇲🇽 It was a great week for strengthening binational collaboration! SANDAG Borders Committee Chair and City of Chula Vista Deputy Mayor Carolina Chávez and SANDAG Board Member and City of Coronado Mayor John Duncan joined the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, Caltrans, and regional leaders in Mexico City to advance crossborder partnerships. Meetings with officials from the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores de México focused on binational priorities, including the Otay Mesa East Port of Entry, the Tijuana River Valley, and the upcoming United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA) renegotiation. We were also joined by Baja California Secretary of Tourism Zaida López Sánchez to explore opportunities to enhance connectivity and tourism. We’re excited to continue advancing funding, infrastructure, and partnerships that support a stronger California-Baja California border region. 🤝 #SANDAG #SDinCDMX

About us
This is the official LinkedIn page of SANDAG, the San Diego Association of Governments. At SANDAG, we plan the future of the San Diego region, build projects, preserve the environment, provide local resources, and manage the TransNet program. Our work is informed by data and public input. We work collaboratively with local governments, community partners, neighboring regions, and state and federal agencies to deliver long-lasting solutions to the region's challenges. SANDAG is governed by a Board of Directors made up of elected representatives from each of our local city councils and County Board of Supervisors. The Board determines where the agency focuses its efforts and how we invest the $1 billion annual budget across all our projects, programs, initiatives, services, and operations throughout the region. The Board also includes advisory members from local transit districts, the military, neighboring tribal governments, Mexico, and partner agencies. As the Metropolitan Planning Organization and Regional Transportation Planning Agency for the San Diego region, we are responsible for developing long-term plans for how people and goods will move around the region. We also serve the region through several other designations including the Council of Governments, San Diego County Regional Transportation Commission and TransNet sales tax authority, forum for regional housing needs, ARJIS administrator and criminal justice clearinghouse, and census agency. Learn more about our work at SANDAG.org.

Have you noticed something different at the Harbor Drive and 32nd Street intersection in The City of San Diego? 🚦 This summer, the old pedestrian bridges were replaced with more accessible crosswalks to connect the Barrio Logan segment of the Bayshore Bikeway to the rest of the regional bike network. This improvement is a big win for Naval Base San Diego personnel and anyone traveling through the area! #SANDAG #SanDiego #BarrioLogan #BayshoreBikeway

Hello Everyone, This past Wednesday I was honored by the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) as a 2025 Star Commuter for my efforts in sustainable transportation. This past year, I made a conscious effort to reduce my personal carbon footprint by replacing 15% of my solo car trips into the office by biking or carpooling. I have regularly biked into the office for many years, but my efforts this year to inspire others to do the same is what earned me the award. I created videos that showed my commute into the office and highlighted the ease and fun of the trips. I shared these videos as well as my experiences with other members of our eco conscious community at Tandem Diabetes Care. I was able to show how easy it really could be but more importantly shared how much my mental health improved on the days I biked or carpooled into the office. Sustainable transportation doesn't require you to ditch the car. It can be simple steps that help you make a difference. *Carpool into the office once a quarter. You may find other coworkers that live near you who are interested in carpooling and I guarantee that those trips will be the least stressful ones into the office. You won't notice how long it took you to drive as the time passes by quickly. *Interested in biking but worried about safety. SANDAG has routes along the way and you might find other coworkers interested in joining you to make it fun and safer. *Worried it takes to much time to bike into the office. You can combine the ride with a trolley or coaster ride to cut time off your total trip. *You may also think it takes time away from your day but its all how you look at it. Many times I get stuck in traffic heading home I forgo working out because I am so tired from the commute. When I bike I get to exercise instead of sitting in traffic. When I get home I don't have to go for a run or the gym anymore and I end up having more time at home then I had driven and then exercised after. *Work from home. You can walk to the a local eatery and eat there or pick your lunch. You get to exercise a bit, take a mental break from work, and support a local eatery. *Worried about being all sweaty and stinky at work. Talk to your company, they may be open to setting up showers or giving you access to showers and lockers. Tandem Diabetes Care has been a great place to work at for this reason. They even supported a bike locker so we had a safe space to store our bikes. You never know what is possible until you start asking.
