Today, we're delighted to put the spotlight on Saving Sight, one of our member eye banks. Guided by a powerful mission, Saving Sight is dedicated to changing lives by saving sight. This purpose drives every aspect of their work - from recovering and preparing donor tissue to partnering with hospitals, ophthalmologists, and researchers to restore vision for those in need. As accountable stewards of the gift of donation, Saving Sight works with compassion and care for donors and their families, while providing sight-restoring corneal tissue for transplant recipients. Their commitment extends beyond surgery, emphasizing education, family support, and donor recognition. Saving Sight provides additional innovative services to ophthalmologists as a co-founder and processor of Vital Tears autologous serum eye drops, and a primary investor in Brightstar Therapeutics.   Lynn Forest-Smith, Vice President of Strategy, is celebrating 10 incredible years with Saving Sight. Her unwavering passion for their mission, “Saving Lives by Saving Sight” has been a source of inspiration to her team and a strong force behind the organization’s growth. Lynn’s leadership has played a pivotal role in expanding Saving Sight’s impact, launching innovative initiatives like Vital Tears, and advancing projects that support their mission. In addition to her work with Saving Sight, Lynn has been a dedicated member of the Vision Share Board of Directors for the past seven years, serving as Chair from 2020 to 2022, and continues to contribute as an active board member. It was an honor to participate in this beautiful celebration of life thrown by Mercy and Freeman Health System down in Joplin this evening. I am so grateful for the opportunity to spend my time surrounded by some of the strongest and kindest people I have ever met. It was a gift to meet you and to hear the stories of your heroes. Midwest Transplant Network and Saving Sight are so incredibly grateful for our hospital partners and for their dedication to serving these families year after year. I wanted to share bits of tonight, along with a prayer that was offered by one of our incredible Chaplains. My heart is full. 💙💚 #donatelife #wechangelives #savingsight
