Health & safety content on screens isn’t all that different from any other content. In fact, it’s arguably the best example of the principles of great digital signage: > Clear > Easy to understand > Seen by the right people, at the right time That’s why ScreenCloud was designed with a number of health & safety features in mind. But there are two that stand out as being perfect use cases for screens: 1/ Emergency Alerts Using the CAP protocol, our system integrates with existing emergency alert platforms to take over all screens when an emergency happens - directing & informing people on the ground in real time. Those can be internal notifications, like fires or broken machinery, or external, like storm warnings. 2/ Air Quality App In some US states, it’s mandated that workplaces record & display air quality. Our app pulls in live local data throughout the day & keeps staff informed on an ongoing basis, while helping you stay compliant. These are just two examples of digital signage doing what other systems can’t - moving emergency notifications beyond anonymous sirens, forgotten posters, or word-of-mouth. For deskless workers in hazardous environments, health & safety can’t be an afterthought. Want to see how screens can strengthen health & safety on your sites? • Remember that classic I Love Lucy scene where Lucy and Ethel can’t keep up with chocolates flying down the conveyor belt? 🍫 That’s exactly what it feels like as your digital signage network grows. At first, you’ve got it under control—a few screens here, a few updates there. But then more screens keep coming… faster and faster. Suddenly, the office screen misses the latest company update, the breakroom is looping outdated content, and the warehouse screens need a restart. Scaling shouldn’t feel like chaos. Join our upcoming webinar "Scale Without Stress: How to Simplify Large-Scale Screen Management" We’ll show you how to: ✅ Streamline large-scale screen management with bulk actions and centralized control through our built in RDM tool. ✅ Keep communications consistent across every location. ✅ Hear stories of people just like you who have succeeded. ✅ Get a sneak peek at what’s next in ScreenCloud RDM. Media Player vs. System-on-Chip: Which should you bet your screens on? When setting up a digital signage network, you’ve got two main hardware choices: 1/ Media Player: an external device connected to your screen via HDMI or similar 2/ System-on-Chip (SoC): a computer built directly into the screen Sounds simple, but the differences matter more than you think. This is what I see as the pros & cons of each: 1/ Media Player + Works with any screen + Easy to upgrade or replace + More flexibility on operating systems - Can be accessed by the public - Adds potential health & safety considerations 2/ System-on-Chip (SoC) + Sleek, compact, built-in solution + Great for public spaces & harder to tamper with - Hard to update or change later - Locked into the manufacturer’s OS If your screens are in a public area, SoC can be the simpler, safer choice. But if you want flexibility, future-proofing, & more OS options, I’ll always recommend a media player. We’ve tested both across hundreds of deployments, & this is what’s consistently worked best for us. #ScreensThatCommunicate #DigitalSignage #MediaPlayer

Kicking off the week with a slightly different kind of announcement… I’ve been awarded a LinkedIn Top Voice badge. From what I‘ve been told, it’s given to around 300 people each year for “consistently sharing high-quality, insightful content that sparks meaningful engagement and demonstrates industry expertise.” Over the past 20 months, I’ve written ~400 posts here. Every single one has had the same aim: to share more about the little-known industry that is digital signage. I hoped then (as I do now) that my content would highlight the very real challenges in the industry, share practical advice for anyone trying to get screens working harder for them, and shout about the people and companies doing it brilliantly. And it’s strangely humbling to know that at least a few people think I’ve managed that. I’m still as excited about screens as I was when I started posting - if not more so now that AI is reshaping what’s possible in our industry. So, expect plenty more #SignsOfGenius, #ErrorMessageOfTheWeek, #AITipsAndTricks… and everything in between. Thanks to everyone who’s read, commented, or argued with me along the way. It’s what makes this fun. #ScreensThatCommunicate

  • Managing a digital signage network sounds simple… until it starts to scale. 💻 For IT: every new screen means another device to rename, another setting to configure, and another remote troubleshooting ticket. What should be a quick fix becomes hours of repetitive, low-value work. 📣 For HR & Comms: the bigger the network, the harder it gets to keep messaging consistent across offices and regions when you don't have a grasp on how your screens are organized. In our upcoming webinar, you’ll get hands-on insight into ScreenCloud Screens Manager—a tool built for “super users” who need to manage more screens in less time. Here’s what you’ll learn: ✔️ How to centralize control of your entire network in one hub ✔️ Simplify daily IT tasks with bulk actions, advanced search, and location tags ✔️ Keep comms aligned across sites with automation tools ✔️ Practical ways teams use features like IP/MAC address management and global time-zone settings ✔️ How companies like yours scaled their fleets successfully—and what you can apply today Whether you’re an IT leader managing enterprise infrastructure or a comms team keeping employees aligned, this session will give you the tools and strategies to scale with confidence, not stress. 📅 September 16, 2025 at 4PM BST/ 11AM EDT 🔗 [https://buff.ly/e0OXd2B

Digital signage only works when you start treating it as a living communication network—planned content, integrated with your existing tools, and placed so that it connects people with the information that matters in real time. Here is how some of our top enterprise users are using digital signage to create communication networks: 1/ They have a proper content calendar Evergreen content is automated & integrated with their core information sources. And quarterly or monthly campaigns are planned screen-first, measured, & refined. 2/ They stop treating screens as a playlist Some are building custom apps & integrations designed specifically for their business. They’re pushing the envelope on what a screen can do, not just what it can show. 3/ They think like broadcasters One customer’s head of internal comms came from broadcast media. She’s built a live network that connects leadership to frontline teams in real time. Leadership updates, company strategy, & context - published to every location. 💭 The question is: are your screens just playing content, or are they truly communicating? #ScreensThatCommunicate #DigitalSignage #InternalComms #EmployeeEngagement #CommunicationStrategy

"I’d quit tomorrow if another company gave me better tools." Now thats a hard-hitting truth, and it’s personal because we’ve all been there in some way. Trying to do a job with broken systems, outdated tech, zero clarity, and even less recognition. Here’s what the research conducted by ScreenCloud and Unily says: - Only 39% of workers say they’re happy in their role. - Only 29% feel a sense of belonging at work. - And those quiet disengagements? They’re costing businesses $80.6 billion a year. From our research with Unily, we found that digital transformation isn't completely a tech thing but a people thing. Because when you give employees tools that actually help, such as when you surface strategy clearly, share updates visibly, and recognize effort publicly, you’re not just fixing friction. You’re telling people: We see you. You matter. We want you to stay. And yes, digital signage can help do that in a way that’s visible, fast, and accessible for every employee, not just the ones behind a desk. Read the full report by ScreenCloud and Unily; it’s full of wake-up calls. 📥 https://buff.ly/W8peRQs
