San Diego Gas & Electric's “Fire Safety Goats” are helping reduce wildfire risks across our region—grazing on dry brush, improving soil health, and keeping communities safe. Hundreds of these spark-free, sustainable partners clear vegetation near power lines and hard-to-reach terrain, reducing fire fuel and protecting homes and infrastructure. It’s just one piece of San Diego’s wildfire readiness plan, which also includes new brush engines, a mobile command unit, and a state-of-the-art firefighting helicopter. #Forward #ForAllofUs

65,000 pounds of litter and debris! ♻️ That’s how much trash was diverted from local waterways, canyons and other scenic outdoor spaces across our region during I Love A Clean San Diego’s 41st Annual Coastal Cleanup Day. Nearly 100 #TeamSDGE employees and their family members participated across five sites, tackling restoration activities from heavy-duty cleanup and trail maintenance to planting and removing invasive species. If you find yourself at any of these spots this weekend, know that they’re a little cleaner and greener thanks to this collaborative community effort: 🏞️ Bonsall Pumping Station 🌳 City Heights – Cooper Canyon 🏝️ Fiesta Island – Mission Bay 🥾 Lakeside River Park Conservancy Site 🌱 Tijuana River Valley Community Garden ☀️ Here’s to the volunteers who make San Diego shine! Our friends at San Diego Gas & Electric and members of their families shared joy, smiles, and BINGO prizes with our seniors this weekend. They volunteered by serving meals, socialized with our older adults, and learned about the issues facing older adults living in poverty. Our corporate partners help us meet our mission everyday by ensuring our seniors thrive as they age. Thank you, SDGE!

We had the chance to visit KUSI yesterday to share an important story about some very hardworking partners in wildfire prevention, a herd of goats. These brush-clearing goats are playing a vital role in reducing wildfire risk by helping to create natural firebreaks and protect our communities. You can meet them in person at the Wildfire Preparedness Safety Fair on Sunday, October 5, from 9 AM to 2 PM at Mission Valley Mall (1640 Camino Del Rio N, San Diego). This free, family-friendly event will feature wildfire safety resources, live demonstrations, and opportunities to connect directly with our first responders. It is a chance to learn how we can all take steps to protect our homes and neighborhoods, while also seeing these unique four-legged firefighters in action. To reinforce wildfire readiness, our team at SDG&E convened top emergency response officials and community partners today at our new Wildfire and Climate Resiliency Center. The press conference, held inside our Emergency Operations Center (EOC), marked a mid-season mobilization and a unified call to action for year-round vigilance and collaboration. Representatives from California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), San Diego Fire-Rescue, 211 San Diego and the San Diego County Sheriff's Office joined SDG&E leadership to spotlight the region’s coordinated approach to wildfire readiness. With minimal rainfall last winter and January’s wildfires still fresh in our minds, we’re doubling down on prevention — including the use of Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) in high-risk areas. These decisions are guided by real-time data and made with one goal: protecting lives and communities. We’re grateful to our partners and internal teams for showing what collaboration looks like when safety is the mission. https://lnkd.in/g5K4Bgje #WildfireReady #SafetyAboveAndBeyond #TeamSDGE #CommunityResilience #EmergencyPreparedness

With wildfire season underway, safety and preparation remain top priorities. This summer, we’ve been hosting our annual Wildfire Safety Fairs, bringing vital resources, expert advice, and hands-on support to communities across our region. Thanks to our partners at California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), the American Red Cross, and 211 San Diego for helping make these events impactful and accessible. There’s still one more chance to join us—our final fair of the season is happening on Saturday, September 27. I hope to see you there as we continue working together toward a safer, more resilient future. sdge.com/fairs #WildfirePrevention #CommunitySafety
