Today is #WorldHomelessDay. Nearly 2,000 children are homeless in greater Seattle.  💔   For too many, the simple hope of having a safe place to call home still feels out of reach. This role is a hands-on position in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and translates marketing tactics into measurable fundraising results. 🦃 1,500 Thanksgiving Turkeys Needed — and it’s not too early to give! This Thanksgiving, Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission needs 1,500 frozen turkeys (15–20 lbs.) to help serve thousands of meals to our homeless neighbors and families in need. Giving now means moms in recovery can share a holiday meal with their kids … men on the streets can experience dignity and hope … and struggling families can feel cared for and not alone. You helped give Katrina a path to a new life 💛 For six long years, Katrina was homeless — enduring the brutal summer heat while living in her car. “No water. No restrooms. I was miserable … and hopeless.” After a car accident left her without a job or home, her life spiraled. She struggled with addiction and eventually lost contact with her daughter. Feeling like she had nothing left to live for, Katrina reached her lowest point and spent time in a hospital psych ward. When it came time to be discharged, she had nowhere to go. But God intervened — and the hospital handed her a simple piece of paper with the number for Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission. “I just started crying … it was God’s plan for me to come here.” At the Mission, Katrina finally found the love, support, and community she needed to heal in body, mind, and spirit. Today, she’s free from addiction, full of faith, and has reunited with her daughter. “I have faith in what the future holds. #ThrowbackThursday ✨ Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission began in 1932, during the Great Depression, opening its doors as a soup kitchen in Pioneer Square. The Mission served more than 9,300 meals in the first four months of 1933 — offering not just hot food, but hope and the love of Jesus to hungry and hurting neighbors. By 1938, over 100 men were sheltered at the Mission each night. What started with a simple meal has grown into a ministry serving thousands each year with shelter, recovery, dental and legal services, job readiness, and more.
