  • We saw over 850 community members at our Fall 2025 Tool Sale (our biggest turnout yet!), and we couldn't be happier about the thousands of tools that found new homes. Thank you for joining us, and we hope you're having fun on your DIY adventures 🛠️🫶 We'll have more stats, stories, and silly photos to share soon! We took WAY too many pictures and videos, so these are just a few of our favorite photos featuring some smiling faces (and the longest line we've ever seen at opening). While our next Tool Sale post will be full of appreciation for our volunteers, partners (Salvation & Seattle ReCreative), and sponsor (BECU), we want to take a quick moment to thank them for making these smiles happen: THANK YOU SO MUCH 💚

    • Someone is putting down a feta cheese container on a table full of tools while someone laughs nearby.
    • Someone smiles next to the tool hold section outside the Shoreline Tool Library.
    • Folks from BECU and Salvation stand on one side of their tabling stations, while a line of folks stands on the other side.
    • A faraway view of the Bike Shack bike sale area and the Seattle ReCreative tabling area.
    • Someone laughs at something in the distance while standing behind someone in a wheelchair who is holding a Tool Sale find.

  • While the hustle of summer is fading, we are still looking for volunteers at the tool libraries! 🛠️ Even if your only familiarity with tools comes from a mini screwdriver that was included in some furniture you bought, as long as you're invested in supporting the community, you're welcome to join us 🪛🫶 Sign Up & Learn More about Volunteer Training & Refresher: https://lnkd.in/gx7DHruB 📍 NE Seattle Tool Library (10228 Fischer Pl NE, Seattle) 📅 Wednesday, October 22 🕕 6–8pm Some benefits of volunteering with us include.. 🛠️ Free tool library membership when you volunteer 3 hours per month ♻️ Access to our Ridwell bin 📚 Free class if you volunteer 3 times in one month 🫂 Warm fuzzy feelings! 🧠 Learn more about our volunteer opportunities: https://lnkd.in/gBfMUQk7 📄 Sign up to become a tool library volunteer: https://lnkd.in/gzt-gJNz

    • Ava stands on a ladder, smiling with a thumbs up, in the main area of the NE Seattle Tool Library. The bottom text reads, "Volunteer Training & Refresher. Discover how you can support the tool libraries by helping members, fixing tools, doing outreach, or joining a committee. Everyone is welcome!". It also states that the class is on Wednesday, October 22, from 6-8pm, at the Shoreline Tool Library.
  • Jeremy has been a tool library member since 2021, using it for projects all around the house. He said that he and his wife spent maybe $3,000 to build a small mudroom, something a contractor had quoted them $60,000 to do! The tool libraries made it possible 🧰🫶 Something else he said when we chatted with him was, "I love those specific tools that I never thought I would personally own, so I go to the tool library to get it. I also use it when I'm endeavoring to learn a new trade!". These are some of the biggest reasons why tool libraries just make sense: Why does everyone need to own the same tool when they're only using them for one specific project? How can I try my hand at DIY without spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on new tools? We are so proud that we can support folks like Jeremey. With over 10,000 tools to use and borrow as a tool library member (pay-what-you-can), please consider checking us out if you haven't already! 💻 Visit our website for more information: seattlereconomy.org (I recommend our "How It Works" page if you're new!: https://lnkd.in/gnpPUaRQ)

    • Jeremy poses, ready for action, in the Shoreline Tool Library, holding the hose of the shop vac in front of him.
  • IT'S TOOL SALE DAY!! Tools will be flying off the tables from 9am–3pm, so make sure to get to the Shoreline Tool Library early if you're looking for something special 🛠️✨ If it's anything like last time, there will still be lots of great stuff later in the day as well, it just might be a little rained on! We'll be updating what the tables look like throughout the event on Instagram stories (@seattlereconomy). Otherwise, if you're looking for something more common or some artistic inspiration like Salvation, come by from 2–3pm when everything is completely free! Although items are free at the end, please remember that we're trying to increase access to tools, so if you arrive earlier and can only donate a smile or a thumbs up, that's okay! Either way, you're giving tools new homes and keeping them out of the landfill, so thank you 🫶 Some Quick Frequently Asked Questions: 💸 Is it cash-only? Nope! We will be accepting card and cash! 👤 Do you need to be a tool library member to get into the sale? No! We encourage folks to tell everyone they know because anyone can swing by! We want this to be an accessible resource to the community, so don't worry about becoming a member because of it (although we won't stop ya!). 🧐 Are you really taking any offer? Absolutely! Our aim with these sales is to get unused tools into the hands of those excited to create in an accessible way. 📅 Is this happening again? Yes! We usually have tool sales twice per year, but we may host more next year.. 📍 Shoreline Tool Library (16610 Aurora Ave N, Shoreline) 📅 Saturday, October 4 🕕 9am–3pm This is a nonprofit fundraising event. All proceeds support the Seattle REconomy community and our tool libraries in NE Seattle and Shoreline. This event is sponsored by BECU and is in partnership with Seattle ReCreative & Salvation. Please be sure to be kind to our lovely volunteers, who we could not have done this event without, and we'll see you soon!! 💚

  • We recently received over 400 pounds of goods, including strollers, clothes, and toys, on behalf of KidVantage! These donations will make a huge impact on the families KidVantage supports, and we're so glad we have the opportunity to increase their donation window through our expanded open hours at the Shoreline Tool Library 🧸🫶 KidVantage helps families and their children by providing essential goods to families who are experiencing the stresses of economic insecurity, systemic inequities, and/or family disruption. While they are taking a break during the month of October to get ready for the fall and winter months, we are still accepting donations for them at the Shoreline Tool Library! 🪀 Learn more about what specific items we accept on behalf of KidVantage and our other redistribution partners (Furniture Repair Bank & Seattle ReCreative): https://lnkd.in/gETqdQgE Please note that items do not have to be perfect, but they should be in relatively good and safe condition.
