Our Senior PharmAssist Annual Breakfast was a wonderful celebration of community! ☕🥐💙 We are so thankful to everyone who joined us for meaningful conversation and connection. A highlight of the morning was our panel with Dr. Robert Califf, Iris Musselwhite, Meri-Li Douglas, and Dementric Matthews, who shared thoughtful insights and personal experiences. We heard about the importance of understanding medicines and medical coverage, and how overwhelming healthcare marketing can be. Senior PharmAssist helps ease that stress by offering trusted, unbiased guidance. Dr. Califf emphasized the need for policies that improve health outcomes at lower costs and highlighted the power of community-based solutions like ours. Ms. Douglas shared how saving on medications through our program allows her to eat healthier and feel better—showing the real impact of your support. This event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors: BD, NC SHIIP, Duke Health, and Potter Financial. Your presence and partnership make our work possible—thank you! 💙 Photography by: Scoville Photography #SeniorPharmAssist #Community #Gratitude #SeniorPharmAssistAnnualBreakfast #DurhamNC #BD #NCSHIIP #DukeHealth #PotterFinancial #KnowYourMedsKnowYourCoverageKnowYourRights #DurhamNonProfit #scovillephotography #NCDOI #FDA

We've been published! Check it out: This paper outlines the implementation of our model in three additional counties—Buncombe, Guilford, and Pitt—through a statewide learning collaborative. Congratulations to HPU School of Pharmacy for taking the lead on the paper and to our amazing statewide partners. https://lnkd.in/eB-5Fane #uncschoolofpharmacy #uncschoolofpublichealth #ncmedicaljournal #fredwilsonschoolofpharmacy #campbellsop #accesseast #MAHEC #CouncilOnAgingofBuncombeCounty #seniorresourcesofguilford #ECUHealth Here, we outline the process for expanding SPA to new communities, and discuss challenges related to scaling the model, such as funding and adapting to varied local contexts. https://lnkd.in/eTuruDfx #uncschoolofpharmacy #uncschoolofpublichealth #ncmedicaljournal

Great explanation of how healthcare costs go up and up - because of little transparency and too many hands in the cookie jar - (the medication cookie jar here) - and not always bringing value. #PBMs #pharmacy
Very clear article about the concerns with hashtag #PBMs and drip by drip approaches (state-level responses) when national transparency and reform is needed. FYI "preferred" pharmacy are often vertically integrated and can costs Medicare beneficiaries more - not less. Cannot let "perfect be the enemy of the good" - so let's hope NC makes meaningful action.

Please join us on May 16 to celebrate one of the reasons "Durham is different" (spoiler alert - this is a very good thing). A great honor to celebrate Senior PharmAssist association with Lincoln Community Health Center...and the history of nursing at what was the Lincoln Hospital - what a heritage! In stressful times, we need to remember that local collaborations and support improves health one precious life at the time. Please help us raise money to support the gem that is Lincoln Community Health Center. They help over 36,000 of our mostly un- and underinsured neighbors every year! See - https://lincolnchcf.org/ to register to attend (below is just a picture).

Super thankful to Fox Family Foundation for years of encouragement and support that makes our work possible! Our partnership began 28 years ago and continues to thrive. It surely take a village to make it happen and glad to be in the Durham/Fox Family Foundation village.
