As #COP30 approaches, we are proud to support an industry-first: co-firing a 38.8% hydrogen blend with natural gas in a commercial gas turbine — setting a new benchmark for hydrogen integration in thermal power. This demonstrates a major step forward in leveraging green hydrogen to decarbonize existing infrastructure. As we continue to innovate, thermal energy remains a vital part of the energy mix — and we are committed to making it cleaner, more efficient, and future-ready. 🔋 🌱

We’re proud to celebrate the Sun Ba II Power Plant in Taiwan being recognized as a 2025 POWER Top Plant! 🏆 This power plant delivers high-efficiency, low-emission power to one of the world’s most energy-intensive economies, strengthening Taiwan’s energy security and supporting its growing semiconductor industry. Kudos to everyone involved for kicking off this project during the height of the covid pandemic. Still, the project was completed on time, and even an earthquake couldn't stop the team. Thank you to our fantastic partners CTCI and Sun Ba Power for the excellent collaboration!

It’s an HVDC first! 🎉 Following a successful sail-out, arrival and installation offshore, the East Anglia THREE platform is now in place! Delivered in partnership with Aker Solutions for ScottishPower Renewables, the East Anglia THREE project is our first HVDC grid access project in the UK! So far, our UK offshore connections have used AC technology as they were near-shore. HVDC enables efficient long-distance power transmission with reduced losses and supporting grid stability. The project will supply clean electricity to around 1.4 million UK homes and supports the UK’s renewable energy goals. Fun fact! The offshore converter platform you see - which converts AC from the wind turbines to DC - is 68 meters wide and over 48 meters high, which is taller than Big Ben! 📷 Siemens Energy and Heerema Marine Contractors

Reflecting on the Brakpan coal-fired power plant, which powered Johannesburg’s gold rush over a century ago, reminds us how vital reliable energy is for progress. Back in 1897 the power plant built by the former Siemens & Halske company not only covered the energy needs of the mining company, but also those of the prosperous cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria. After two years of construction, the largest power plant at the time went into operation. #FlashbackFriday ©️ Siemens Historical Institute

Solar energy, even when the sun's not there! ☀️ As we look ahead to the energy commitments that will be discussed at #COP30, we're shaping the future of sustainable energy today. Noor Energy 1 is the world’s largest single-site hybrid solar power project. This Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plant in Dubai captures solar heat and stores it in molten salt, enabling electricity generation even after sunset or during cloudy conditions! A groundbreaking step toward reliable, round-the-clock renewable energy in unpredictable environments 🌍⚡

The race to build new data centers is on — but there are significant hurdles. In your opinion, is the power supply the only bottleneck, or are there other issues preventing the expansion of data centers? Are they regulatory or stakeholder requirements regarding sustainable operation? Where are other supply chain bottlenecks? Let us know what you think!
