  • They didn’t expect to lose everything. But they did. The storm that hit St. Louis didn’t knock. It barged in — ripping off roofs, shattering windows, turning lives upside down. With your help, we assist with exactly what families need: shelter, food, clothes, beds, and other basic necessities for living. Your gift today helps neighbors recover and rebuild lives. We are Neighbors helping Neighbors. Please give now at www.svdpstl.org/donate. You can be the hope St. Louis needs.

  • Neighbor Spotlight: You Brought Her From Homelessness to Hope After fleeing a difficult and unstable relationship, Alexandra found herself living in her car and temporary hotel rooms with her four children. She was working, doing her best to stay afloat, but the barriers to finding safe, affordable housing were overwhelming—especially with an eviction on her record.   At her lowest point, Alexandra reached out to local churches, hoping someone would listen. That search led her to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, where she found more than just help—she found compassion, advocacy, and hope.   SVdP volunteers quickly responded, conducting a personal visit to learn more about her needs. They arranged for temporary housing, giving Alexandra and her children a safe place to stay while they looked for more permanent solutions. SVdP Conferences joined forces to provide essential resources: funds for meals and transportation, ongoing case support, and help covering initial housing costs.   With encouragement and advocacy from the Society, Alexandra was finally able to secure stable housing—despite the challenges in her rental history. Today, she is back on her feet and pursuing EMT training to build a better future for herself and her children. Thank you to our donors that make these stories happen! • Today, we honor Juneteenth — a powerful reminder of resilience, liberation, and the ongoing journey toward justice. On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, freedom finally reached the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas. Juneteenth calls us to reflect on our shared history, celebrate Black culture and achievement, and recommit to building a more equitable and compassionate world. At St. Vincent de Paul, we stand in solidarity with our Black neighbors and communities, recognizing that the fight against poverty is inseparable from the fight against racial injustice. Let us celebrate, educate, and advocate — today and every day.

What looks like delicate pink blossoms hanging from this tree is not nature’s beauty. It’s insulation—torn from homes and wrapped around branches—left behind by the devastating tornado in St. Louis. The destruction is real. The need is urgent. Vincentian volunteers from the St. Gabriel the Archangel Conference were on the ground and snapped this photo while they were helping in the wreckage. We are Neighbors helping Neighbors in Need. Please help: www.svdpstl.org/donate Please keep all those affected—and those serving—in your prayers.
