Solid Ground envisions a community beyond poverty and oppression where all people have equitable opportunity to thrive.
About us
Our communities are stronger when we support stability and break down the barriers to overcoming poverty. Solid Ground combines direct services with advocacy to meet basic needs, nurture success, and spread change. Through 20+ programs, people gain stability and build skills that equip them to move forward in their lives. We work toward ending racism and other oppressions embedded in our institutions, policies, and culture that hold people back from succeeding. By amplifying the voices of people experiencing poverty throughout the political process, we further social justice and support our entire community in reaching its fullest potential. Each Year more than 65,000 King County residents engage with Solid Ground to address their urgent food, housing & transportation needs, while changing the institutional practices & policies that perpetuate poverty.

The environment plays a critical role in the process of healing, including for those who survived the dual traumas of domestic violence and homelessness. That’s why Solid Ground’s Broadview Shelter & Transitional Housing recently partnered with Rooted Hands Collective to transform a dry patch of dirt into a healing garden, where residents find opportunities to reflect, bond, and experience the healing powers of nature 🌱 https://lnkd.in/gb7fwMy9

This Indigenous People's Day, we celebrate and honor the rich histories and cultures of Indigenous Communities across the country, including the Duwamish, Coast Salish, and other Indigenous stewards of this land. We encourage those who live and work in Seattle to take action by contributing to Real Rent Duwamish, a grassroots effort to compensate the Duwamish Tribe for their land and resources. Solid Ground is bringing community leaders together to explore critical questions about human services and social justice. Learn more about how to engage with this important event.
With the federal government cutting funding for nonprofits that support diversity, equity, and inclusion, human service agencies are faced with hard questions: What do we do if standing by our values puts our ability to provide services at risk? What will the future hold for human services, and the communities we serve? This October, Solid Ground is opening up this existential conversation with community thought leaders at our Social Justice Salon. 💬Responding to the Moment: Social Justice, Federal Actions, and the Future of Human Services ⏰Wednesday, October 15 | 4:30-6:30pm 📍 The Forum at Town Hall Seattle Get details and tickets: https://lnkd.in/gQZHPEdx
