As part of our 'Spire Goes Pink' initiative throughout October, we are sharing the stories of our employees who have been impacted by breast cancer. Doug Powers, the shop foreman for our NASCAR Cup Series teams, lost his sister, Amber, to breast cancer in 2014. Amber, a 2nd grade teacher, was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in her early 30's and beat the disease a year and a half later. Shortly after, she was diagnosed once again and passed in November of 2014.

About us
Spire Motorsports earned its inaugural NASCAR Cup Series victory in its first full season of competition when Justin Haley took the checkered flag in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on July 7, 2019. Less than three years later, William Byron drove Spire Motorsports’ No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado to its inaugural NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series win on April 7, 2022, at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. The team’s most recent CRAFTSMAN Truck Series win came on May 30, 2025, when Rajah Caruth took the checkered flag in the Rackley Roofing 200 at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway. In 2025, Spire Motorsports campaigns the Nos. 7, 71 and 77 Chevrolets in the NASCAR Cup Series. The team also fields the Nos. 7, 71 and 77 Chevrolet Silverados in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series and an ARCA Menards Series Chevrolet in select events.

Throughout October, we’ll be highlighting Spire employees who have been impacted by breast cancer. Rachael Dandison’s grandmother, JoJo, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 after years of caring for people as a hospice nurse. After 12 weeks of radiation, JoJo began a 10-year course of medication designed to keep the cancer from coming back. Fortunately for her, she did not have to undergo chemotherapy. For the next five years, JoJo went for mammograms biannually and eventually graduated to just one annually. Each appointment marked not just another checkup, but another milestone in her journey of survival and resillience.
