As we wrap up our celebration of #NursesWeek2025, we're reflecting on our nurses' many accomplishments over the years! Here, #SCCR's Donna Williams elaborates on a moment in her research career that made her feel proud. She also adds: "The second moment was an investigator-initiated trial I worked on here at Stanford that partnered with John's Hopkins University called the Keynote trial. This trial utilized Pembrolizamab (an anti PD-1 antibody), an immunotherapy in treatment of MSI-H tumors. This trial targeted a genetic mutation rather than tumor type and showed an overall response rate of 30.8% across a wide range of advanced MSI-H/MMR cancers with a duration of 47.5 months. The toxicities were minimal and led to the first drug approval for a genetic target and many more indications. In research, we are on the Vanguard of new technologies and treatments and help to collate the evidence for new groundbreaking treatments. This is why I love my role as a research nurse, we collate the evidence for the science of new treatments." Donna, thank you for playing a critical role in our mission to advance impactful clinical research!
