Today, we had the honor of welcoming Vice President JD Vance to Metallus’ Faircrest Steel Plant. Speaking to more than 300 employees and local stakeholders, the Vice President underscored the importance of investing in American workers and companies.   Following his remarks, he toured our facility, met with employees, and saw firsthand how our steel is manufactured.   We were proud to demonstrate how our people and our plant represent the strength, innovation, and resilience of the American steel industry. SMA Praises Series of Historic Trade Deals That Strengthen American Manufacturing SMA President Philip K. Bell issued the following statement today: “The Steel Manufacturers Association applauds President Trump for implementing a series of historic trade deals that strengthen American manufacturing. President Trump has been a strong champion of the domestic steel industry for years, pioneering the 232 steel tariff, which resulted in historic investments in people, processes and equipment. Since his second term began, the Trump administration has crafted multiple trade deals with major trading partners such as the Republic of Korea, the European Union, Japan and others that will benefit our economy. Opening global market access, fortifying American energy and driving major investments in our country will provide American manufacturing a level playing field to compete with any country in the world. Nowhere is a level playing field more vital than the steel industry, which for years has suffered from China-led excess capacity. Our industry thanks President Trump for always putting American workers first. “President Trump’s America First policy will create an economy that is the envy of the world, and the steel industry stands ready to proudly lead our country’s coming economic growth with American-made steel. We look forward to continuing our work with the Trump administration to provide the steel that will power our next manufacturing renaissance.”
