  • In this week’s market commentary, “Markets Decline Amid Fiscal Policy Concerns," our Wealth Management team analyzes market activity from the past week: The Trump Administration’s tax and spending bill passed the House of Representatives. An extension of the 2017 tax cuts could meaningfully increase the take-home pay for many workers but the fiscal implications of the bill concerned markets. The May 20-year bond auction went poorly, pushing the yield on the 20-year Treasury above 5%. First-quarter earnings have been positive for markets, as 12.9% earnings growth is expected with most companies reporting. • Today, May 24, 2025, marks a significant milestone as Sunflower Bank celebrates 133 years of serving our customers and communities! Since being chartered as The Farmers National Bank of Salina (KS) on May 24, 1892, we have held the same values of building lasting relationships with the customers and the communities we serve. These relationships and community connections have only grown as we've broadened our geography and services. We are thankful for our loyal customers and passionate teams that make it all possible and we look forward to a future of growth, customer connections, and community service. #CreatingPossibility

  • In this week’s market commentary, “Stocks Rally After U.S. and China Agree to Tariff Pause," our Wealth Management team analyzes market activity from the past week: The U.S. and China announced a 90-day pause in tariff escalation and a mutual reduction to existing tariffs, while April inflation data was better than expected, increasing by 0.2% month-over-month. On Friday, Moody’s downgraded the U.S. government's credit rating by one notch from its top triple-A status, citing concerns over persistent fiscal deficits and rising interest expense on the national debt.  Read more and download the full Weekly Market Commentary on our website: https://trst.in/SUVOyZ

  • Congratulation to our Meridian, Texas branch for co-hosting a successful business mixer with the Meridian Chamber of Commerce! Representatives from our personal and business banking teams and our merchant services partner, Clover, were there to network and answer questions. Attendees were treated to refreshments while engaging in great conversations about community involvement. We appreciate everyone who helped make this event a success.

  • We’re excited to share that our Eastern Kansas Commercial Banking team recently closed on a $66,600,000 revolving credit facility for a Kansas-based power trading company. Sunflower Bank served as Lead Arranger on the transaction. The funds will be used to support the company’s ongoing rapid growth and provide additional power trading capital. By reviewing the company’s complete financial needs, our team was able to structure a full-service banking relationship that also includes treasury management services and an interest rate hedging facility. At Sunflower Bank, we have the experience and flexibility to create comprehensive banking solutions that support the needs of middle market businesses. • "When you’re on the other side of the world fighting, a lot of times you wonder why you’re doing it. Getting these letters of encouragement and great thoughts pushes you to do the best you can.” In honor of #MilitaryAppreciationMonth, we re-visit the effort of Assistant Branch Manager Alicia Smith, who partnered with her local VFW and American Legion Posts to collect over 1,200 thank-you cards to send to active duty service members to provide support and encouragement. Overall, more than 71,000 cards were collected to thank our troops! This month of May, we express our gratitude to all current and former members of the United States armed forces. • Our local team had a great experience touring The Food Depot in Santa Fe, New Mexico and learning about its amazing work! The Food Depot is a non-profit food bank that distributes more than 10 million pounds of fresh food each year throughout Northern New Mexico and has been making a positive impact on its community for over 30 years. As part of the tour, we presented The Food Depot with a check for $1,000 to support its efforts, which will result in providing 4,000 meals! We are proud to support organizations that are making an important difference in our communities.
