Our newest simulation lab is a state-of-the-art space that provides Sutter’s Graduate Medical Education Program residents, nurses and other clinicians with an immersive, highly realistic learning experience in a safe and controlled environment. “The pace in the sim lab is definitely intense. The tech team does an excellent job of creating real-life scenarios. The sessions in the sim lab are recorded, so we can review each case as a team in the debrief rooms and go over teaching points.” - Dr. Andrei Callejas, second-year resident in Sutter’s GME Program Read about the mobile simulation unit coming in 2026 and more here: https://bit.ly/3Fi3CLy. #SutterProud

Today we celebrate #InternationalClinicalTrialsDay – a moment to recognize how research at Sutter Health helps change and save lives. 🎉 Carlos Butler’s decade-long journey with a cutting-edge clinical trial at Sutter Health helped him battle chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Diagnosed with the illness in 2015, Carlos participated in a National Cancer Institute Network testing a combination of medicines, as an initial treatment for cancer. He received ongoing care and monitoring from the team at Palo Alto Medical Foundation Research Institute. “There was such excellent communication between care teams, specialists and researchers. We had a full team of skilled, kind care professionals monitoring my husband the entire way,” – his wife, Katie. Now in remission, Carlos helped bring research discoveries to life. His participation in the clinical trial contributed to U.S. FDA approval of the therapy as a first-line treatment for CLL. (Please note: This video contains simulated injuries and fake blood.) “This is just a great service to our community. We’re the only Level II Trauma Center in our area that can support a Black Hawk helicopter, so we’re here, we’re ready to serve and we’re really proud of that.” – Sutter Roseville Emergency Services Senior Director Gary Gates Sutter Roseville Medical Center recently took part in an emergency preparedness drill that featured a Black Hawk helicopter landing on our helipad and a full-scale training exercise with volunteers acting as injured patients. Sutter Roseville is the only hospital from the Sacramento region to the Oregon border where the California National Guard’s largest medical helicopter can land on its helipad. As a Level II Trauma Center, along with its proximity to the foothills, we play a critical role in disaster response across the region and these drills help our team stay ready for anything. Congratulations to all who helped organize and take part in the mass-casualty drill. It was a well-run exercise that gave our staff and emergency response partners a chance to strengthen coordination and prepare for the unexpected. MENTAL HEALTH WIN: Sutter Health will receive Bond Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program (BHCIP) funding to expand behavioral health services across Northern California. This investment aligns with our commitment to expanding mental health access and meeting the growing needs of patients and families across Northern California.” This funding supports projects at Sutter Center for Psychiatry in Sacramento and Sutter Coast Hospital in Del Norte County, expanding inpatient and outpatient capacity, strengthening care coordination, and improving access for patients in critical need.
