The TEAM team had the honor to present yesterday in front of the Governor's Council on Women & Girls, chaired by Office of Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz. We were able to speak on the impact of our myriad of programs - from early childhood & family childcare home as both an entrepreneurial business opportunity for women PLUS expanding access to childcare, the importance of access to job training programs to meet the rising cost of living, and our elderly services programs predominantly utilized by older adult women. Always an honor and a privilege to shine the light on Community Action and TEAM Inc.'s programs in service to our region - yesterday specifically focused on the impact for women & girls. Thank you to the Council for having us!

Part 2 of our 3-part Financial Education series was a hit! Dozens came together at TEAM's building to hear from Newtown Savings Bank presenters and facilitators on the skills, tools, and resources needed to make a household budget work, even when expenses are high. Together, we worked through a sample budget that started with a deficit, and found ways to balance the ledger. Grateful for Newtown Savings Bank for lending their time & expertise to host this workshop! Part 3 is coming up on October 22nd, where we will find ways to increase incomes (training & educational programs to qualify one for a higher-wage job) and Investment 101. 'Tis the season! Energy season that is. Our Energy Department is busy processing applications for this year's home heating assistance program, which can help with the cost of heating your home, whether that is with oil, kerosene, propane, gas, electric, etc. In some cases, we are also able to facilitate an equipment replacement, and system cleanings. Thank you to Ms. Barbara "Babe" Bartomeli, 93 years young, of Shelton who shared her story of what TEAM's Energy program has done to help her! A big THANK YOU to Gulish and Associates for this incredible collection of children's diapers! Gulish & Assoc. staff and clients came together to collect diapers & wipes, and even a few toys for the children served by TEAM's Diaper Bank program! #DidYouKnow the cost of diapers for one child can be $80-120 per month. Having support from a diaper bank can make a significant difference both for the health of a child, and for the mental well-being of parents & caregivers, as they know they can provide their child what they need to be healthy and dry. In addition, Gulish & Associates also donated thousands of dollars towards TEAM's Adult Incontinence program, helping to provide necessary hygiene items for older adults. We cannot thank them enough for this effort to support our neighbors in need.

It's our last week of #60to60 stories! This has been an incredible series of sharing 60 stories of TEAM impact, from early childhood supports, to services for older adults, and everything in between. Thank you for coming on this journey, and we hope you learned something about TEAM! This week, meet: ▶️ Drismarqui, who receives support from TEAM's Early Childhood programming, allowing her to pursue her education. ▶️ Mary Ellen, who attends Griffin Cafe meals with her crew regularly, enjoying a healthy dinner and fun social outing. ▶️ Kevin, a TEAM volunteer who pours his heart into TEAM's Men Who Cook fundraiser each year, leading the chefs to create culinary masterpieces! ▶️ Ahmed, who was supported by TEAM's GAIN program, which helped him earn his CDL license. Ahmed is now on the path to financial security. With his new credential, he has the potential to earn over 6 figures. Congratulations, Ahmed! ▶️ Nancy, a TEAM VITA volunteer, who describes the impact of the program which helps thousands each year file their taxes for free and receive the maximum refund.

A perfect way to end National Diaper Need Awareness Week! Thank you to Immanuel Lutheran Church ELCA in Oxford for donating this abundant collection of children's diapers and wipes! This will be an immense help for the 700+ children and families that TEAM's Diaper Bank supports each year. Diapers can cost up to $120 per month, per child and having a little bit of help to offset that cost can go a long way for a family's and child's well-being. Thank you for your support!

#60to60 Our 60 days leading up to the 60th anniversary event will soon come to a close, but we have a few more stories of impact to share with you. This week, meet: ▶️ Barbara, a senior who receives help each winter to keep her oil tank full and home warm. (Also grateful to Barbara for the sewn masks and other goodies donated to our staff during the pandemic!) ▶️ Brenda, who works with TEAM's Diaper Bank to cut her monthly diaper cost. The savings allow her to fulfill other needs for her youngest. ▶️ Yessenia, whose children attend daycare at TEAM's Head Start school, learning English that they then can teach their mom - also allowing Yessenia to attend her medical appointments knowing her children are taken care of! ▶️ Richard, who has worked with TEAM to avoid eviction and cover other essential bills, and in Richard's words, restore Hope. ▶️ Shewana, whose young son attends daycare at one of TEAM's partner Family Childcare homes, providing care and social skills before he heads to kindergarten! ▶️ Mary Ann, who receives a hot meal from TEAM Meals on Wheels each day, and is grateful for the daily check-in. ▶️ And Julie, an essential TEAM volunteer who co-chairs our Toys 4 Kids committee, fundraises and coordinates our raffle during the spring Men Who Cook fundraiser, and jumps in to help whenever TEAM has an event or need! Grateful to our clients & volunteers for sharing their stories as we get ready to celebrate our milestone anniversary.

Absolute blast yesterday at TEAM's Early Childhood center in Ansonia with our friends from Newtown Savings Bank! Bank leaders joined us for a fun morning of learning and play, and brought an incredibly generous contribution to TEAM, $20,000! These funds have and will support TEAM's programming throughout the year, from our diaper bank, to housing & food supports like Project MANNA, and our Financial Education series. When the devastating floods hit our region last year, Newtown Savings Bank stepped up right away to help TEAM's relief efforts, and their support has not waned - the bank continues to demonstrate "the power of local" - committing time and resources to TEAM's work to better our communities. We could not be more grateful for our partners at Newtown Savings Bank.
