The Financial Accounting Standards Board has approved the first U.S. accounting standard for environmental credits and it’s going to change how companies manage and report offsets, RECs, and allowances. My colleague Melissa Phipps just wrote a great guide on what the new FASB Topic 818 means for companies using environmental credits as part of their compliance or sustainability strategy. The rule brings long-awaited consistency to how these credits are recognized and disclosed in financial statements, but it also adds new expectations and timelines to plan for now. Do you know this cute and curious coral reef dweller? Meet the seaweed blenny (Parablennius marmoreus), named for its ability to blend with seaweed. At just a few inches long, these creatures are often spotted darting in and out of tiny holes in coral reefs. Our Robert B. captured a photo of this little creature during a nearshore hardbottom habitat survey off the coast of Palm Beach, Florida. The survey is part of Tetra Tech’s ongoing work to assess and protect diverse marine ecosystems along Florida’s coastline. Tetra Tech’s scientific divers log thousands of research dives to assess the impacts of human activities on the marine environment and provide effective solutions for our clients. “Living on an island means that our ports are our lifeline in the movement of goods and services,” says Nuala, transportation engineer with our RPS Tetra Tech operations in Ireland. Nuala shared how Tetra Tech is enhancing connectivity at both Dublin and Belfast ports through multimodal transport solutions that benefit local communities.
