Last week, AIA leadership attended the NOMA Annual Conference, which was held by the National Organization for Minority Architects (NOMA), our alliance partner. AIA and NOMA leadership joined together for a panel on the value of membership, the power of partnerships, and the shared responsibility of leading the profession forward. 2024 AIA President Kimberly Dowdell, AIA, NOMAC, moderated the candid discussion between 2025 AIA President Evelyn Lee, FAIA, NOMA; 2025 AIA President-elect Illya Azaroff, FAIA, NOMA; NOMA President Bryan C. Lee Jr NOMA, FAIA; and NOMA President-elect Saundra Little, FAIA, LEED AP, NOMA. This wasn’t our only session at #NOMAKC25: 📌 Securing The Future Of Architecture | Creating A Bias Free Profession, presented by AIA Strategic Council members: Garfield Peart, FAIA, MBA, NOMA, USAF (Ret.); Stephanie Leedom, AIA; Karen Lu, FAIA, NOMA; and Graciela Carrillo, FAIA, NOMA, NCARB, LEED AP 📌 Crisis to Resilience: How Architects Can Combat Disparities and Strengthen Communities, presented by Steven Lewis, FAIA, NOMAC; Stacy A. Bourne, FAIA, NOMA; and Paola Capo, senior manager of climate action and resilient communities at AIA. We also joined attendees at the NOMA Career Fair and Professional Expo, where we highlighted Communities by Design, a dual membership incentive (see the end of the post!), and extensive resources. AIA staff members and 2025 AIA National Associates Committee (#AIANAC) Chair, Darral Tate, AIA, NOMA, engaged architecture students and emphasized AIA resources made specifically for them. ⭐ Dual membership opportunity! ⭐ You shouldn’t have to choose between two organizations with the same goal: A more diverse and equitable profession. NOMA members save 50% when you join or rejoin AIA using code NOMAJOIN50. Don’t take our word for it—in AIA Architect, Andrew Thompson AIA NOMAC NCARB LEED AP BD C, tells his journey of how both organizations benefited his career journey: https://lnkd.in/ekg8D28H #NOMAConference
