Last week, The INGAA Foundation, Inc., Interstate Natural Gas Association of America, and Natural Allies for a Clean Energy Future co-hosted a “lunch and learn” for Capitol Hill staff about the value of natural gas infrastructure. The event included an important conversation by representatives from the entire value chain of the natural gas pipeline industry about the role that natural gas and its related infrastructure play in meeting energy demand, providing affordability and reliability, boosting our economy, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and ensuring national security and competitiveness. Thank you to the Natural Gas Caucus co-chairs for hosting us, our member companies for their participation, and our expert panelists Alex Oehler of TC Energy, T. Lane Wilson of Williams, Ben Johnson of Boardwalk Pipelines, Devin Hotzel of Enbridge, and Kent Wilfur of Gulf Companies, for sharing their insights.

Amy Andryszak provided an excellent presentation yesterday. Thank you for sharing your perspective with the Northeast Gas Association's members and guests. We appreciate your collaboration and partnership. And that's a very cool pipeline map Interstate Natural Gas Association of America has!
Today I had the privilege of presenting at the Northeast Gas Association’s Regional Market Trends Forum. I was invited to provide insights into what is happening in Washington. As I noted during my remarks, it is an exciting time to be in the natural gas business and I remain optimistic about the potential to see statuatory and regulatory changes which will allow for further development of all forms of energy infrastructure, including gas pipelines. It remains important for the collective gas industry to work together which is why I was happy to travel to Albany to support the Northeast Gas Association, Alana Daly Mikhalevsky and Jose Costa. Plus, it is always good to visit with Interstate Natural Gas Association of America and The INGAA Foundation, Inc. members in forums outside of Washington, DC. (Not necessarily the best photo, but it does include the INGAA pipeline map!)

Natural gas and its related infrastructure play an important role in ensuring the reliability, affordability, safety, and security of the U.S. energy ecosystem, and last week, we partnered with The INGAA Foundation, Inc. and Natural Allies for a Clean Energy Future to host a lunch and learn with Capitol Hill staffers, discussing these important topics. Natural gas fuels 42% of electricity generation, heats 60% of American homes, and supports over 5.8 million businesses, all while helping the U.S. reduce emissions from its power sector. As demand for energy continues to grow across the country, natural gas and its related infrastructure are more essential than ever, for heat, for exports, for innovation, and for sustainability. Moreover, the country also needs additional pipeline infrastructure to continue to move this important fuel source around the country. Special thanks to the Natural Gas Caucus, including Representative Stephanie Bice, Representative Jim Costa, Representative Lizzie Fletcher, and Representative Mike Kelly, for hosting us on the Hill for this important discussion.
Last week, we were honored to host a powerful discussion on Capitol Hill alongside Interstate Natural Gas Association of America and The INGAA Foundation, Inc. about the pivotal role of natural gas infrastructure in America’s energy landscape. Our session, "Natural Gas 101: The Value of Natural Gas Infrastructure," brought together industry leaders and policymakers to explore how natural gas is driving economic growth, enhancing energy security, and enabling a cleaner energy future. Moderated by Alex Oehler of TC Energy, the conversation featured an impressive lineup: 🔵 T. Lane Wilson from Williams highlighted natural gas's contribution to local and national economic growth. 🟢 Ben Johnson of Boardwalk Pipelines discussed how rising energy demands, fueled by data centers, LNG exports, and domestic manufacturing, are underscoring the need for robust pipeline infrastructure and permitting reform. 🔵 Devin Hotzel from Enbridge emphasized how natural gas remains a reliable and affordable energy source for American households and businesses. 🟢 Kent Wilfur of Gulf Companies outlined how natural gas has been a driving force in reducing U.S. greenhouse gas emissions since 2005 and is a key partner in supporting the expansion of renewables. 🔵 Dave Coffin, MBA of EVRAZ North America shed light on how U.S. LNG can strengthen energy security for our allies and reduce global coal dependence. We are deeply grateful to the Natural Gas Caucus for sponsoring this important event, with special appreciation for Representative Stephanie Bice, who shared her valuable perspective, as well as Representative Lizzie Fletcher, Representative Mike Kelly, and Representative Jim Costa for their support and leadership. And to all attendees who joined us—thank you for your energy, engagement, and commitment to advancing the dialogue around natural gas and its critical role in our energy future. Working together, we can drive meaningful change at the federal, state, and local level to ensure an affordable, reliable, and clean energy future for all.

INGAA congratulates Chad Zamarin on his appointment to President & CEO of Williams. Chad has demonstrated through his career, and extensive engagement with INGAA, that he is a true champion for natural gas and its related infrastructure. In addition to a long tenure on the INGAA board of directors, he served as its chair in 2022 and 2023, and currently serves on the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Gas Pipeline Advisory Committee. Additionally, we thank Alan Armstrong for his dedication and commitment to the industry and INGAA. We wish him well as he transitions to his role as Executive Chairman of Williams.
Williams today announced that effective July 1, 2025, President and CEO Alan Armstrong will become executive chairman of the Williams Board of Directors and Chad Zamarin, currently executive vice president of Corporate Strategic Development, will succeed him as president and CEO and will join the Williams board. Read the full press release here https://wmb.link/c8p. Current Board Chair Stephen Bergstrom, who will become lead independent director July 1, expressed the board's support for this transition, stating, "Alan’s remarkable leadership and commitment to the mission, vision and values of Williams has been fundamental to the company’s success. On behalf of the board of directors and the entire company, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Alan for his exceptional leadership as president and CEO for the past 14 years and for his dedication to Williams during his nearly four decades of service. This transition is the result of a thoughtfully planned, multi-year succession process, and the board and I are confident that Chad will continue to guide Williams to success in the evolving energy landscape."

Demand for #naturalgas and electricity is growing. To meet that demand, we must create a durable system for permitting infrastructure in America. That is the message I delivered yesterday when I had the honor of testifying before the U.S. House of Representatives' Subcommittee on Energy, of the Energy & Commerce Committee, alongside other energy experts who agreed that the status quo simply won't cut it. Specifically, Congress needs to focus on four broad reforms: 1. Restore the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to its role as a tool for analysis, not a means to frustrate all infrastructure development. 2. Establish reasonable guardrails against misuse of Section 401 of the Clean Water Act. 3. Promote certainty and durability in the Army Corps of Engineers’ Nationwide Permit Program. 4. Decrease litigation risk. According to the @U.S. Energy Information Administration, electricity net generation in the United States will rise more than 45 percent by 2050 to meet growing demand from data centers and electrification. As the largest fuel source in the U.S. power sector, natural gas will play a key role in our energy future -- but only if we can build the additional pipeline infrastructure to enable it. Interstate Natural Gas Association of America and our members appreciate Chairman Latta bringing attention to these important issues. Happy Earth Day!
Did you know? In the years since INGAA issued its climate commitments, total annual methane emissions for transmission and compressor stations reporting to EPA under Subpart W of the GHG Reporting Program decreased by 1.75 million metric tons. On Earth Day, and every day, INGAA member companies are doing their part to promote environmental stewardship by reducing methane emissions from their systems.
