The League was proud to support our Tallahassee Chapter of Credit Unions’ Fall Networking Dinner and thrilled to see such strong engagement from across the credit union community! The evening featured remarks from Stephen Huddleston, Chief Legislative Aide to Senator Corey Simon, who shared the Senator’s ongoing support for credit unions and his deep commitment to increasing investment in Florida’s rural communities. Senator Simon has been a steadfast advocate since taking office in 2022 and recognizes the vital role credit unions play across his district. Our Senior Director of Government Affairs, Christopher T. Hodge, MBA, also provided an overview of upcoming legislative priorities, previewed key events, and encouraged attendees to get involved in advocacy! #CUAdvocacy #YourLocalAdvocate

We thank Senator Katie Boyd Britt (AL) for her leadership in supporting legislation that relieves credit unions by modernizing outdated reporting thresholds under the Bank Secrecy Act. For more than 50 years, financial institutions have been weighed down by burdensome reporting requirements that haven’t kept pace with today’s economy. The STREAMLINE Act brings long-overdue updates that adjust Currency Transaction Report (CTR) and Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) thresholds. Cutting this red tape ultimately allows credit unions to focus on what they do best—serving their members. Thank you, Senator Britt and Senate Banking leadership, for standing up for strengthening financial security while reducing unnecessary regulatory burdens. Twenty-one days into the shutdown, credit unions across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia are doing what they do best — stepping up for their members. From federal employees and military members to contractors, credit unions are offering skip-a-payment programs, 0% emergency loans, payment deferrals, waived fees, and free financial counseling to help families stay stable and communities strong. But our work doesn’t stop there — we’re also encouraging credit unions to amplify these efforts through social media, local media partnerships, and congressional outreach. - On social media: Share who qualifies, how to apply, and how fast relief is available — and include a link or direct phone number. - In local media: Pitch stories showing how credit unions are supporting federal workers and military families, and provide a spokesperson with examples of impact. - With lawmakers: Brief congressional offices and offer clear points of contact to help connect constituents with relief. Credit unions are built for moments like this. Learn more about relief programs at: https://lnkd.in/eD9_rF9D

Exciting news! Seven local credit unions are joining forces with Habitat for Humanity of Bay County FL, to build The Credit Union House—a powerful symbol of collaboration and community spirit. Six of the participating credit unions are part of The League’s footprint—All In Credit Union, Champions First Credit Union, Hello Credit Union, Innovations FCU, Loyalty Credit Union, and Panhandle Credit Union—along with Tyndall Federal Credit Union and support from The League's Gulf Coast Chapter of Credit Unions. Together, they’re contributing funds and volunteer support to make this home a reality for a deserving local family. This project embodies the true credit union philosophy of #PeopleHelpingPeople —building not just a home, but hope. 🏡💙 #CUDifference #CommunityImpact

Last week, The League was proud to take part in the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU)’ Global Bridges Study Tour—an immersive experience that brought together credit union leaders from the U.S., Ireland, Ukraine, and Poland. 🌍 Representing The League was Tobi Weingart, SVP of Member and Industry Engagement, who spent the week exchanging ideas, building connections, and bringing valuable insights back to our four-state footprint. From Gdańsk to Warsaw, participants saw firsthand how collaboration transcends borders and how credit unions are rebuilding trust, expanding access, and fostering resilience in communities worldwide. As Tobi shared, “The real magic isn’t just in collaboration—it’s in honoring what makes each of our credit union systems unique. Those differences help us learn, stretch, and grow together, all while staying rooted in the same cooperative purpose that unites us.” 💙 #CUDifference
