Udemy CEO Hugo Sarrazin outlines how the company is expanding beyond its own site - adding partners like Indeed to reach learners where they’re searching for jobs. $UDMY Watch the full episode: https://lnkd.in/dDBh6xRZ
This holiday season is shaping up to be an especially tough one for job seekers. While searches for seasonal work have surged 27% year-over-year and 50% since 2023, actual job postings have barely budged, according to Indeed. Economists call it a "low-hire, low-fire" economy where companies aren't laying people off, but they're not adding new positions either. Outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas expects retailers to add fewer than 500,000 seasonal roles this year, the weakest holiday hiring season since 2009. Even logistics giants like UPS and FedEx have yet to announce their usual year-end hiring sprees, and Amazon's plans remain flat at 250,000 hires. Experts say job seekers should start early and broaden their search beyond retail. As tariffs and inflation weigh on stores, sectors like tourism and hospitality could be brighter spots. 📸: New Line Cinema
