About us
The Vane Brothers Company has served the maritime industry for more than 125 years, providing a wide range of services that includes ship bunkering and lightering; the delivery of marine lubricants, stores, and non-potable water; and inspection of onboard safety equipment. Today, the company has a fleet of 130 tugboats and barges working out of multiple East Coast locations (including New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Norfolk, Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville and Tampa Bay), as well as the Pacific Northwest and parts of California. Skilled mariners make up the bulk of Vane Brothers' VANE LINE BUNKERING employee base: These include tugboat Captains, Mates, Deckhands, Engineers and Tankermen. The company also provides marine launch services through VANE LAUNCH and safety equipment inspections through VANE BROTHERS MARINE SAFETY AND SERVICES. Since its humble beginnings as a Baltimore-based ship chandlery in 1898, the Vane Brothers Company has been dedicated to quality and customer satisfaction. Though the primary business focus has adapted over the years to meet the demands of an ever-changing industry, Vane Brothers continues to set the standard of excellence with updated equipment, experienced crews, and a commitment to safety and the environment. Vane Brothers continually strives for a goal of "zero spills and zero incidents." Vane Brothers takes pride in its maritime legacy and has been able to grow while retaining the spirit of a small family business.

The 4,200-hp DELAWARE became the second Vane Brothers tug ever to transit the Panama Canal. The DELAWARE followed the ELIZABETH ANNE and preceded two other Vane tugs, all of which moved barges through the canal during the company's West Coast expansion in October 2018.
