It's strange to think that January is almost done. Friday and Saturday... and then a fresh Sunday start to February. It feels like a good sign when a month begins on a Sunday. Almost like it's a month that's urging us to take some strategic, intentional rest. Maybe it'll be a month of winter sun and thawing hope (or maybe our marketing specialist is just frozen in upstate New York and is hoping to melt out a little). Here's some hope for your feed, for those of you feeling courageous: The Center for Courageous Kids (CCK) needs a new Regional Vice President of Development. Check out this senior fundraising leadership role, based in Nashville. If it speaks to you, shoot Dan a message! And if it doesn't, still shoot him a message. Start your February right by spreading kindness and filling his inbox with intention and courage. We've officially said "courage" too many times. One more cup of coffee, please. Happy Friday!

We wrapped up Day 2 of Winter Compass with a presentation on unplugging from our fearless leader and CEO, Greg Boucher. Some of our favorite of his life lessons: ✔️ Everything comes out in the wash. ✔️ Good most often comes from bad beginnings. ✔️ Your eyes only see and your ears only hear what your brain is telling you. Here at ThinkingAhead, we take his leadership to heart and try emulate those pillars of authenticity, transparency, resilience, and vulnerability in our own daily lives. Grateful for leadership who practices what they preach and always puts culture and community at the helm.

Today, we had the honor of hearing from Brad Bialy, a senior marketing strategist at Haley Marketing and a leading expert in the Venn diagram of recruiting and marketing. Some of the key concepts? How to be a human in a workplace that scrubs humanity from recruiting in a world of skepticism and AI. Taking a solutions-focused approach instead of a selling-focused approach. And that consistency beats intensity every time. Brad has a podcast! It’s called Secrets of Staffing Success. Find it wherever you listen.

Someone get Kadri on #MomTok. Crushing it as a full-time mom AND as a full-time recruiter? That's what we call full-time girlbossing. Thank goodness for kindergarten, time back, and real dialogue about what it's like to be a parent in today's workforce! 🫶
apparently i’ve been running on fumes for 5 months. yesterday my gremlin started kindergarten. which means i survived: full-time mom full-time work full-time time-zone acrobat (part-time keeping my sanity whole - lol) trying to be present at home while being “on” for clients late at night. too much tv. late bedtimes. hello mom guilt, my toxic little friend. “it’s only a few months,” i said. it took way more out of me than i thought. i handled it. mostly. i think. but yesterday... it shifted. he walked in happy. confident. ready. (didn’t want to leave when i picked him up) and i walked back into my day with space. space to think. space to breathe. space to be me, again. it's OKAY!!! you can love your kid and love getting parts of yourself back. both can exist. neither makes you a bad parent. new chapter. for both of us. anyone else love their kids and love getting parts of themselves back? asking for a friend. p.s. this is me pretending i know how to use my free time wisely.
