Vandaag overhandigen we het HY3+ rapport aan minister Hermans tijdens de World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam 🌱 Groene waterstof speelt een sleutelrol in de energietransitie. Maar de geplande infrastructuur is nog niet robuust genoeg om de toekomstige vraag betrouwbaar aan te kunnen. Samen met Arcadis en verschillende partners onderzochten we hoe de waterstofketen in Noordwest-Europa sterker en veerkrachtiger kan worden. De conclusie: zonder extra investeringen in opslag, flexibiliteit in havens en betere internationale afstemming loopt het systeem tegen grenzen aan. In het rapport doen we aanbevelingen om productie, opslag en verbruik beter met elkaar te verbinden. TNO had the great pleasure of receiving today His Excellency Jan Versteeg, Dutch Ambassador in Paris, together with a delegation from the Région Hauts-de-France. As part of its international neighbourhood strategy, the Hauts-de-France Region signed a cooperation roadmap on 3 April 2024 with the Nederlandse Ambassade in Frankrijk and the Ministère des Affaires étrangères français for the period 2024–2028.  As part of their large-scale mission to The Netherlands, the delegation started with a visit to TNO to discuss the Dutch innovation ecosystem, and the place of TNO in it. What was emphasized was how crucial cross-overs between expertise are for the innovation process. As it happens between the TNO units, between ICT and High Tech Industry, from Energy & Materials Transition to Mobility and Built Environment. The digital domain was the focus of the discussion, AI, Cybersecurity, Quantum, and the different collaboration platforms in these areas in The Netherlands and in Europe. Central is the development of technology, services and products with European standards and values at core. We specifically discussed the increasing importance of the Defence domain in Europe, a domain where TNO is not only active on knowledge development but also on knowledge application. Research security was also on the agenda, an ongoing effort to find the right balance between openness towards collaboration and right level of protection: the principle here remains ‘as open as possible, as closed as necessary’. Voor ons verdienvermogen is hogere arbeidsproductiviteit cruciaal, maar die groeit in Nederland nauwelijks meer. Zijn pleidooi: investeer in opschalende bedrijven.  🤖 David Abbink hoogleraar TU Delft, onderzoekt met zijn team de toekomst van werk: slimme robots die mensen op de werkvloer ondersteunen. Maar technologie alleen is niet genoeg. Een mensgerichte aanpak is essentieel om werk betekenisvol en aantrekkelijk te houden. De sleutel tot hogere arbeidsproductiviteit? Sterke samenwerking tussen wetenschap, ondernemerschap en overheid. 🔧 Jurgen Bastiaansen, manager innovation bij Festo, brengt dit in de praktijk. Met een flinke dosis pioniersgeest en praktische innovatiekracht, ontwikkelt Festo al decennialang technologische oplossingen voor industriële automatisering en draagt zo direct bij aan hogere arbeidsproductiviteit. TNO ondersteunt SeaSEC - Seabed Security Experimentation Center 2025 deze week bij het organiseren van de challenge weeks. Twee weken lang testen we samen met Defensie, industrie en kennisinstellingen geavanceerde sensoren, industriële robots en autonome vaartuigen in realistische omstandigheden op zee 🌊 Het doel: snel en effectief vijandige onderwaterdrones en explosieven detecteren bij kritieke infrastructuur zoals pijpleidingen en datakabels. Alle data komt binnen bij een Noordzee Data Controle Centrum aan wal. Daar ontstaat het totaalbeeld waarop wordt beslist: grijpt de kustwacht of de Marine in? Carine Van Bentum, Directeur SeaSEC, licht toe: “De komende weken testen we onder regie van Ministerie van Defensie en in samenwerking met onder meer TNO, geavanceerde technologieën zoals drones, sensoren, AI-systemen en autonome vaartuigen. Niet in een lab, maar op open zee. Als het hier werkt, werkt het overal.” SeaSEC laat zien hoe civiele en militaire samenwerking leidt tot snellere, slimmere oplossingen.
