The Hub Express System (𝗛𝗘𝗫) has been featured on DatacenterDynamics! Link ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eQhxwx7z To summarize how HEX is rewriting the history of internet interconnection in America: 🟡 "HEX was started because what we needed in Boston was a new and truly neutral meet-me system that is not tethered to a single private property." 🟢 "Our goal is to empower more competitive data centers to be able to compete in the market." 🔵 “We wanted to create a truly open access system where anyone, even networks that are not from Boston, could come into the manhole and do their interconnections without any concerns of dealing with competitors locking up their cross-connects, or being locked out of conduits." According to the Project Charter of the Hub Express System (𝗣𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗫), the project will: 📜 "Operate a new multi-cable, multiconduit fiber optic transmission system dedicated to promoting interconnection freedom, accessibility, network neutrality, digital equality, freedom of enterprise, and freedom of expression for all.” 🇺🇸🗽 These are some bold goals matched by a powerful infrastructure that is backed by real people, partners, and the communities that we serve. We thank all of our suppliers, early-bird participant carriers, data center partners & abutters (FirstLight Fiber, Lightpath, Zayo Group, CoreSite, Evocative, to name a few), and the City of Somerville for partnering with us to host a historic upgrade to the digital infrastructure at Inner Belt, enabling a more free, open, and competitive marketplace for global connectivity. Let's put some of this into context: 👉 It's cheaper to purchase a 100G wave to NYC or even London from the HEX system at Somerville's Inner Belt than it is to purchase 1Gig between two offices in downtown Boston. Let that sink in. 😲 👉 1 Gbps enterprise-grade (DIA) internet in a warehouse served by a HEX Open Access Lateral is cheaper than a cross connect. In the pictures: We've had one hell of a time and fun building HEX at Inner Belt, the largest fiber optic joint trench to ever get built in Boston in more than 20 years. It was truly a once-in-a-decade career experience. And the work is not done! Surrounding developments and abutter businesses are now driving new expansions to the HEX infrastructure, with Somerville's Inner Belt serving as the gateway to global connectivity. ✈️ The HEX story is now heading to Wichita, Kansas! Hear about how utilities can bring a transformative change to the internet infrastructure landscape in the era of AI at the Connected Nation, Inc. 𝗔𝗜 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 on September 11. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eXtD-6pz #internetinfrastructure #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork #Boston #IXP

A historic internet peering project is happening in Boston! First, a tale of two IP juggernauts of New England: ✅ FirstLight Fiber (AS13536) boasts over 200 peers across its 25,000 route miles of fiber network, with 75% of IP traffic terminating on-net. ✅ TOWARDEX's 𝗧𝗪𝗗𝗫 𝗜𝗣 (AS27552) boasts over 2 Tbps of peering capacity in Boston and is the region's trusted authority for blended bandwidth among sophisticated enterprises and data center communities. When it comes to low latency, these two ISPs are no strangers to running exceptionally well-connected networks, making them the perfect pair for customers to multi-home into when shopping for redundant internet providers. 🎯 Innovation never stops with these two IP heavyweights of New England, and today, they're delivering on their new 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘤𝘦, the crème de la crème of IP backbone engineering! The two ISPs are implementing the most complex 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁-𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 yet at the Inner Belt Fiber Corridor, connecting their IP networks for the benefit of mutual customers and slashing latency by over half! 💥 ‼️ They are completely bypassing cross connects and carrier hotels. Instead, they're connecting their border routers at the 𝗛𝘂𝗯 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 (𝗛𝗘𝗫), America's first Meet-Me Street network with zero cross connect fees. In the pictures: 👉 New cable running from FirstLight to TWDX IP in a HEX manhole. 👉 TWDX IP receiving the interconnection from FirstLight at its splice case. 👉 Fibers for the 100G PNI (private peering) coming into TWDX IP hub. 👉 The celebratory traceroute 🥂 from Boston to Brunswick, ME through the completed pathway. Hop #4 "𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵-𝘱𝘹.𝘵𝘸𝘥𝘹.𝘯𝘦𝘵" is the moment in which all of these pictures are traversed at the speed of light—latency has dropped by more than half! 😮 It is a spine-shivering sight in my career to see BGP come up and watch traffic shift onto the massive $4 million pile of underground trench, the manholes, utility relocations, and restorations, all of which we've enjoyed building with tremendous pride when constructing the HEX system. 🤩 Lots of engineering, craftsmanship and public infrastructure works went in behind this new beautiful traceroute. 🚨 The future of AI-ready internet is in infinite amounts of dark fiber and digitally transforming the infrastructures that support them. HEX has transformed the underground utility into a thriving digital ecosystem, where companies are attracted to the street for its network gravity and are shopping for colocation from data centers served by HEX. Boston is at the forefront of showcasing what the future of digital connectivity entails: Latency is the new currency and the internet runs on concrete! 🌐 About HEX: https://lnkd.in/ep9wgn5M 🌐 About FirstLight IP: https://lnkd.in/ehzqEBjS 🌐 About TWDX IP: https://lnkd.in/exiCjT4Q #peering #internetinfrastructure #iptransit #bgp #KeepTrafficLocal

Quad9 returns to Boston! Quad9 DNS is a free service that replaces your default Domain Name Server (DNS) configuration with a huge focus on data privacy. Quad9 blocks DNS lookups of malicious host names from an up-to-the-minute list of cyber threats, keeping you protected. 💭 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗡𝗦 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘂𝗽𝘀. DNS is one foundational service across the internet where you do not want ANY latency, as delays added by DNS will compound into all applications running over your internet connection, slowing down web browsing, gaming, etc. So, one of our customers who runs a fiber-to-the-home ISP asked us if we could improve their latency to Quad9, as Quad9 didn't have a native presence in Boston. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁. In partnership with Quad9 DNS, we're pleased to announce the return of their legendary DNS service to Massachusetts, powered by TOWARDEX's TWDX IP network, and hosted at CoreSite's BO1 data center, one of the most interconnected buildings in New England. 📈 𝗜𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿. Our DIA and IP transit customers will immediately notice the improved performance to Quad9 (as evident in traceroute pictured here). But not only are we accelerating Quad9 for our customers, we're also extending this improvement to our private peering partners, including Lightpath, FirstLight Fiber and Comcast. This means that our peering partners too will soon enjoy the significantly improved DNS performance to Quad9 for their own DIA customers in Boston. This is one of the many examples of TOWARDEX being hyper-focused on investing in our infrastructure to deliver the highest standard of experience for our DIA and IP transit customers. When it comes to internet bandwidth, we're obsessed with reducing latency and improving the end-user experience. It is for this reason that many municipalities, broadband ISPs and blue chip enterprises partner with TOWARDEX for their internet connectivity. 🕶️ 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁, 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝟬 𝘁𝗼 𝟳! At TOWARDEX, our customers and partners are treated to an elevated experience that is centered on a vertically integrated platform covering layers 0 to 7 in all things internet. Quad9 DNS's Boston deployment is powered by the 𝗛𝘂𝗯 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 (𝗛𝗘𝗫), the multi-million-dollar state-of-the-art manhole network built to launch the nation's first large-scale Meet-Me Street network. The HEX system facilitates large amounts of network interconnection, and it is where much of Quad9's traffic is fanning out to many internet users across New England. So, next time, when you're using Quad9 DNS in Boston, you will have seen the pictures of the very physical infrastructure—the fiber connections and manholes—on this post where your DNS packets just traveled! #Boston #internetinfrastructure

🌟 10 Gbps DIA for $350 MRC! 🔥 For years, TOWARDEX provided wholesale DIA and IP transit products to our partner carriers, enabling them to offer a second ISP (multi-homing) solution to their own customers by leveraging their excess fibers. 🚀 Today, we're launching our promotion of $350/month for 10 Gbps DIA to our service provider partners by delivering the first circuit on behalf of a carrier at a manhole! This carrier is reselling our 10 Gbps DIA through the redundant side of their fiber ring, offering a multi-homed dual ISP solution to their customer. The carrier is also selling primary DIA through their own IP network for the other leg of the solution. 📢 With this promotion, we're announcing the launch of 𝗧𝗪𝗗𝗫 𝗜𝗣, our blended bandwidth service, at the Hub Express System (𝗛𝗘𝗫)—America's first interconnection utility and "Meet-Me Street" network, located in Boston. 🎯 Member carriers of the HEX system receive heavily discounted rates for DIA ports as low as $100/month without having to pay any cross connect fees or third-party local loops! 👉 Check this link for promotion details, including pricing and FAQ: https://lnkd.in/gJhBYJ4E 🤝 Let's get Boston's business communities hooked up and connected BIG this year! #Boston #iptransit #fiber
