"How you get the info is the key." 🔑 Love this insight from our Head of Marketing, Phyllis Fang, featured in Forbes! She joined •Shep Hyken to discuss the difference between "creepy" tracking and impactful personalization. The verdict? It’s all about Zero-party data. If you're trying to build a customer profile without breaking trust, this is a must-read. Drama belongs on a stage, not in your privacy program. 🚫 There’s a huge difference between saying you’re compliant and actually being compliant. That’s why our Field CPO, Ron De Jesus, is taking the stage at the IAPP Global Summit. He's moderating a powerhouse debate, "Beyond Compliance Theater: Bridging Legislation", on closing the gap between laws and real-world implementation. The Panel: 🏛️ Steve Elkins (Minnesota House of Representatives) ⚖️ Lara Kehoe Hoffman (California Privacy Protection Agency) 💼 Elise Houlik (Chief Privacy Officer at Intuit) If you’re heading to D.C., you won’t want to miss this one: https://lnkd.in/epAjtbNg 🗓️ Monday, March 30 | 1:45 PM EDT 📍 IAPP Global Summit, Washington, DC See you there? 👋 #IAPP #GlobalSummit #Privacy #Compliance #NoMoreTheater #Transcend

Are you "freakishly curious"? 🧐 Our Head of Marketing, Phyllis Fang, just hopped on the mic with the Humans of Martech podcast for a chat on what actually drives career growth and better data systems. Spoiler: It’s not just about knowing the tools. It’s about having the "freakish curiosity" to dig into how they connect. Phyllis shares about her time at Uber (marketing safety features during high-pressure moments!) and why building a "Trust Infrastructure" isn't just a compliance box to check, it’s a strong way to build experiences that don't crumble under pressure. 🎧 Listen to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/e4qxz2_m #MarTech #Marketing #Podcast #Trust #Transcend #FreakishCuriosity

I had a really thoughtful conversation on Humans of Martech that made me zoom out on my own career a bit. A lot of my instincts were shaped early on at Uber, working across CRM/lifecycle, and later safety product marketing. I kept finding myself in roles where the work had to survive pressure (whether that's formal reviews from Legal, very real scrutiny from the public, or just plain critical skepticism from internal teams). Over time, that pushed me toward systems thinking: - the user choices may evolve as your brand builds a relationship with them - how that support data transforms across identifiers, systems and channels - the systems and setup that allow companies to move fast, safely & responsibly Phil Gamache and I also talked about why I gravitate toward the space between systems and story, how curiosity compounds over a career, and what it looks like to build judgment instead of just output... especially now, with AI changing the texture of marketing work.

Marketing, CX, and Privacy are far more interconnected than most organizations treat them. We all show up in converging moments: capturing user preferences, delivering personalization, customer support, honoring data requests... all trust-building/trust-breaking touch points. Regardless of whether your customer data is first-party or zero-party data, it's how it is collected (clear consent at moment of collection + transparency around how it is used) that ultimately determines whether personalization feels ethical (and yes, non-creepy). Thank you, •Shep Hyken for including me in this Forbes piece! p.s. Brandon Wiebe, Szuyin Leow let's get coffee soon? 😉

Thanks again for the great conversation in Dublin, Ron De Jesus! It was a real pleasure. From Irish Aran cardigans to privacy hackathons, to the very practical questions of how we actually operationalize data governance and data minimisation… a pretty eclectic (and fun) mix. Looking forward to continuing the conversation 🚀

I was beyond excited to have Idriss Kechida, OpenAI's first-ever Global Data Protection Officer, on this latest episode of Transcend Field Trips. As the former Chief Privacy Officer at Match Group (and my former boss!), leading privacy for the world's largest dating brands like Tinder and Hinge, it's been incredible to witness him now help shape privacy strategy at arguably the world's most influential #AI company, ensuring innovation is responsible, thoughtful, and genuinely #privacy-protective. We talked about treating privacy as an operating principle, the importance of coalition building, and why he believes AI can truly enhance individual privacy.
