Summary of the “Less 1980s” Whole Home Remodel in Pinehurst, NC At Transform NC, we take on projects that are more than just remodels—they’re full transformations tailored to the way families live today. One of our recent projects, which we affectionately call “Less 1980s”, is a prime example. This Pinehurst home had great bones but was burdened with a compartmentalized floor plan, outdated materials, and inefficient use of space. Our job was to modernize it while keeping the character and functionality that the homeowners needed. Key highlights of this renovation included: • Opening up the floor plan by removing a central fireplace and structural walls to create a seamless flow between the living room, kitchen, and sunroom. • Expanding the kitchen layout, incorporating an oversized island, a peninsula for seating, and an adjacent dream pantry. • Revamping the primary suite with vaulted ceilings, a spa-like bathroom, his-and-hers closets, and a redesigned sitting area. • Creating a functional Jack-and-Jill bathroom with a wet-room concept for ease of use and accessibility. • Adding two bedrooms, a bathroom, and storage space to the unfinished attic, effectively turning this into a five-bedroom home. • Enhancing energy efficiency with spray foam insulation and a dedicated HVAC zone for the new attic space. This project took careful planning, structural ingenuity, and a deep understanding of how our clients wanted to use their home. The result? Today marks a huge milestone for our team: we passed the final inspection on our historic carriage house addition and renovation! This project has been both challenging and rewarding, transforming a piece of history into a modern space with a golf simulator, gym, and a versatile room for family and friends. When we first started, it was clear this build would push us to blend timeless craftsmanship with cutting-edge functionality. We had to be meticulous with every detail, from preserving the original architecture to fitting in new tech, all while respecting the character of the carriage house. Now, standing in the completed space, it’s incredible to see the past and present come together so seamlessly. Having a space where you can practice your swing, get a workout in, or just relax feels like the perfect nod to the house’s history as a place of work and leisure.
