Huge news from TREK this week!
TREK’s development team has achieved financial closing on a whopping four deals this month – all three subphases of Bedford Dwellings Phase II: Francis Street in Pittsburgh’s Hill District and the Louis A. Venson Senior Lofts in the City’s Beltzhoover neighborhood!
Bedford Dwellings Phase II is TREK and the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh’s second phase of the Bedford Dwellings Hill District Choice Neighborhood Implementation Grant. Choice Neighborhoods is an ambitious HUD initiative aimed at revitalizing distressed neighborhoods through a comprehensive transformation strategy centered around three implementation teams – People, Housing, and Neighborhood. As the lead housing implementation team for the grant, the TREK team has been working diligently on this project and is looking forward to its future development phases! This phase will consist of 180 total units, in a mix of townhomes and apartment buildings, of which 103 units will be replacement units for the residents of Bedford Dwellings as well as additional affordable and market rate units.
The Dr. Louis A. Venson Senior Lofts in Beltzhoover will be a rehabilitation of the former Beltzhoover Elementary School and a new addition to create 39 units of affordable senior housing! Vacant since 2004, the elementary school has served as a community landmark for over a century and generations of families have passed through its walls. TREK is excited to breathe new life into this building and transform it into a home for generations to come.
