Continued to see progress on the Hayward CA green loan. Keep up the good work. This week on Green loans, we discuss the importance of engineering and design. Engineering plans are used for permitting and interconnection. Lenders use it to get comfortable with the installation team's ability to deliver. It speaks to attention to detail and quality of the anticipated installation. It is used as the basis for computing generation capability and the resulting revenue. Banks also can use an independent engineer that will look at the designs and critique the reliability of the facility of an "as built facility". Attached you will see the initial design using a commercial tool (HelioScope by Aurora Solar) and a more formalized engineering design that was iterated through consultation with the customer, utility, and the municipality. As a green lender, these steps help to reduce risk and ensure a good investment for the institution and the customer. This is post 2 of 4. We are so happy to see movement and progress on the Hayward CA green loan. Well done to the team. Some may ask what is a green loan. It's just a loan made to a project designed to reduce Green House gases. Here how we think about monitoring an investment. We do so by understanding the 3 steps to an installation: 1. Engineering 2. Procurement 3. Construction Each step has many tasks and milestones. Understanding each of these with continuous risk mitigation is one of the many strengths of Freedmen as its staff are former renewable developers, bankers, and project managers. During the engineering stage, we make sure permitting and interconnection are always progressing as this process is the least costly of the 3 but can be the most time consuming. If done incorrectly, it can impute additional cost down the line. Attached you see the equipment arriving and stored for the project that inspired this post. We make sure prudent security protocols are in place, the equipment is compliant to our institutions rules, and the requisite warranties are in place. This is post 1 of 4.
