Please join us in congratulating our patient, Sean White! He's doing great and recovering steadily after his fifth open-heart surgery with Dr. V. Mohan Reddy in June.
A lifelong UCSF patient, Sean was born with Shone’s complex, a rare congenital heart condition, and had three life-saving surgeries at our hospital before the age of three. He returned for his fourth surgery in 2016 while still in high school, and this most recent procedure marks another milestone in his journey with us.
Sean's mother, Joanne Hayes-White, was one of the first women in the San Francisco Fire Department and later became its first woman fire chief, serving 15 years before retiring in 2019.
Today Sean is feeling great; taking walks, staying active and counting down the days until he’s back on the golf course! He returned to work and recently had a blast celebrating weddings with friends and family in Los Angeles and Buffalo!
