As part of the UF Health Cancer Institute’s highly competitive Team-based Interdisciplinary Cancer Research Training Program, or TICaRT, Cali Love and her team are working to develop targeted therapies for glioblastoma. Love is a student in the M.D.-Ph.D. Training Program in the University of Florida College of Medicine. When Colleen McLarnon joined the U.S. Navy after graduating from the University of Florida College of Nursing, she planned to serve for three years but stayed for three decades. From a remote island in the Indian Ocean to the flight decks of aircraft carriers, she led with courage, compassion and the heart of a Gator Nurse. In August, the UF College of Veterinary Medicine said goodbye to one of its favorite patients — Booger, a 1-year-old miniature donkey. After being diagnosed with tetanus, Booger endured intensive medical care. Linda Cottler, a professor in the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions and the College of Medicine, is leading the way with the UF-based National Drug Early Warning System. The NDEWS is a national effort using real-time data to identify emerging drug threats before they spread.
