This initiative will harness IBM’s AI, data, and hybrid cloud technologies to assess countries’ readiness for the digital and AI economy, starting with pilot programs in Brazil and Mexico. 📅 For the International Day of the Deep Seabed, UNIDO reaffirms its support for multilateral ocean governance and the precautionary approach to deep-sea mining. As part of UN-Oceans, UNIDO upholds that protecting marine ecosystems and ensuring equitable benefit sharing must guide all seabed resource discussions. Through its Global Alliance for Responsible and Green Minerals, UNIDO promotes fair, transparent, and circular mineral value chains that meet the demand for critical minerals without opening new extraction frontiers. The focus must remain on transforming how we use, reuse, and recycle materials and on addressing the social and environmental impacts of land-based mining first. 💡 This message will also feature at Circular Movie Night 2025 in Vienna on 13 November, co-hosted by the Circular Economy Forum Austria, UNIDO, and Wien Energie GmbH, in cooperation with the UN Global Compact Network Austria. The event includes a screening of Deep Rising, narrated by Jason Momoa, followed by a panel discussion and networking reception, inviting participants to explore how circular strategies can drive a more responsible and regenerative green transition. 🚀 UNIDO’s Bridge for Cities marks its 10th milestone in Xi’an, China! Hosted alongside the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) World Council meeting, this year’s edition united over 600 urban leaders and innovators from 150 cities worldwide, including 70+ mayors and governors, under the theme “shaping sustainable cities with technology and innovation.” Participants shared strategies to transform challenges into opportunities, linking planning, policy, industrialization and innovation for climate-resilient, inclusive growth.
