Concluded the annual Association for Community Living, Inc. ‘s Management Symposium, last Friday, on the topic of reducing isolation in older adults. We addressed stigma, challenges faced by older adults and the impact of isolation including death. We reviewed what works at Urban Pathways including unique designs of our facilities and programming with a special focus on our Total Wellness Program and our use of Motivational Interviewing. Lastly, we emphasized the endless opportunities in aging like it’s golden and how a positive outlook, social connectedness and activity can add so many more years of life💃🏽🕺🏽It’s never too late to enroll in school, join the workforce or find love so these topics should always be integrated in the care we provide.

Had the honor of being part of a panel discussion hosted by Nonprofit New York, delving into the 'Power and Value of New York City's Nonprofit Sector'. The insightful dialogue prompted reflection on our collective impact, the importance of bold leadership, and the collaborative efforts needed for progress. I'm honored to have been asked to host the orange carpet for Urban Pathways fundraising gala. It's my passion to elevate local community voices, uplifting and showcasing people who work to improve New York City. Who better to champion an organization serving adults experiencing homelessness through supportive housing and social services than someone who experienced it himself? Formerly homeless, Rob Robinson is now on the Urban Pathways Board of Directors as an advocate, having overcome homelessness - he's also a professor at PARSONS HOUSING JUSTICE LAB AT THE NEW SCHOOL - where he even received an honorary doctorate.

We’re so grateful for our partnership with Media2 (m2) and the impactful video they created for our 50th Anniversary Gala. Their storytelling brought Greg and Eric’s journeys from homelessness to housing to life, and helped frame a truly unforgettable evening. If you haven’t seen the video yet, it’s worth a watch: 

An energizing day of action last week at City Hall! Urban Pathways joined over 150 human services providers to demand an end to late payments. Nonprofits provide essential services to millions of the most vulnerable New Yorkers, yet we are owed over $1 billion for services already rendered. United as a sector, we look forward to working with the City to create a fair and transparent contracting system that pays nonprofits on time every time.

We had a wonderful time at the CSH Housing Solutions Summit in Chicago a couple weeks ago. Urban Pathways presented on promoting resident leadership and power sharing. From leading advocacy committees to creating policies and serving on our board🙌🏽 #inclusivity
