About us

SwedishAmerican is now UW Health. At UW Health, our commitment is to serve through medical innovation and unparalleled compassion. We provide expertise and quality care to patients and families throughout Wisconsin, Northern Illinois and beyond. In 2015, SwedishAmerican, a community health system based in Rockford, Ill., with a proud 100-year legacy, became part of UW Health. In 2021, the UW Health brand was introduced at SwedishAmerican’s 2 hospitals and 30 primary care and multi-specialty clinic locations across Northern Illinois. Through this partnership, Northern Illinois patients and families have the best of both worlds – a familiar, convenient network of primary and specialty care locations combined with easy access to UW Health experts for highly complex situations, especially for patients with cancer or heart disease. Moreover, mothers and babies – most of whom are cared for at the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Rockford – also have easy access to neonatology experts at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, in situations when a higher level of care is needed.

  • Adalyn knows our NICU well. Her twin sisters, Milly and Elsy, spent 29 days there in 2019 after arriving eight weeks early. Now, she’s turning that experience into something beautiful. For a National Junior Honor Society service project, Adalyn created thoughtful care packages for NICU families, including handmade fleece luvies (soft matching pieces that help parents and babies stay connected through scent), donated snacks and books, coloring supplies for siblings and journals for notetaking and reflection. She dreams of becoming a NICU doctor one day. But she’s already making a big difference.

  • After several years as an emergency room coordinator, Arbriana Williams joined our breast health team as an imaging specialist where her passion and natural skills serve patients every day. She quickly discovered a special talent for identifying abnormalities during ultrasound, which deepened her understanding of why breast health matters for both women and men. Now, she uses that expertise to guide patients through some of their most anxious moments with care and compassion. Arbriana knows her role often intersects with emotional moments, and she approaches each one with kindness and clarity. Being able to deliver reassuring news—like letting a patient know no biopsy is needed—is deeply rewarding, often met with hugs and happy tears. “We do not worry until we have to and even then, everything will be alright. We will be in your corner through it all,” Arbriana says. Outside of work, Arbriana loves spending time with her husband and three daughters. Movie nights and pizza are family favorites in their Rockford home.
