Thank you to NEW JERSEY BANKERS ASSOCIATION for another fantastic conference. Thank you for the opportunity to have our own Dave Hudak moderate such an engaging session on AI !

We had a great time yesterday at our Emerging Leaders Network Conference, a sell-out event for the next generation of organization leadership. Emceed by Quin Ojageer of First Bank, the day started with a dynamic panel of C-suite leaders who discussed their career journey. Margaux Howard of Valley Bank sat down with George Boyan of Unity Bank, Gregory Garcia of First Commerce Bank, and Philip Vaz of Ion Bank. They imparted lessons learned to attendees, speaking on the importance of finding balance and taking care of your mental health, telling them to challenge the status quo and bring solutions to the table, and to be bold and think strategically. Dr. Linda Eagle of the Global Bankers Institute led two panels on communicating with confidence and executive presence, and building your personal brand. She expressed the importance of giving yourself grace over striving for perfection, admitting when you are wrong and embracing it, making everything you say truly count, and not apologizing unless you've done something wrong. When it comes to building your brand, she told attendees, "the most important thing we can do - and it's not easy - is to try and find our authenticity. Who am I? When am I really comfortable?" A panel of Emerging Leaders then shared their banks' journey with AI. Led by David Hudak of Vikar, the panel featured Nicole Economy of Peapack Private Bank & Trust, William Heaney of Kearny Bank, and David Vela of ConnectOne Bank. They spoke on how their banks implemented AI, where they currently are in the process, the cultural shift within their institutions, and more. AI is no longer an "IT thing" but a "common language" across the bank, they discussed, noting however, that the key is to use it, not rely on it. Chris Forst of RSM US LLP spoke on stablecoin, starting with the basics of what is stablecoin and the top stablecoins on the market, along with the Genius Act, and diving into the different ways banks can utilize it beyond being a stablecoin issuer such as partnering with a fintech, which can be an opportunity for them. Thank you to all our attendees, speakers and our ELN Underwriters who made the event a success!

  • Research shows that technology solutions and infrastructure are the primary motivators for collaboration. That makes sense because the right tech doesn’t just modernize processes, it enables institutions to innovate, adapt, and grow together. At Vikar, we partner with banks and credit unions to provide the infrastructure that makes collaboration possible: streamlining onboarding, accelerating loan origination, and delivering seamless customer experiences.
