    Director, Legal Architecture

After five great years at BRYTER, I’m excited to share that I’ve joined vLex (soon to be part of Clio*), as Director, Legal Architecture. Eight years ago I left corporate litigation for legal tech because I believed technology could transform how legal services are delivered. This change is happening now. AI is reshaping how lawyers work, but one question remains: “How can I trust the AI?” That’s why I’m excited about Vincent - vLex’s AI built on 1 billion proprietary legal documents, not the open web. In my new role I’ll be helping law firms and in-house teams adopt AI they can trust across practice areas. And if that wasn’t enough (!) I got to kick things off in Boston at #ClioCon last week meeting the friendly, smart and ambitious team behind Vincent, and hearing Jack Newton share his vision for a new era of AI-driven work in what many are referring to as a defining moment in legal tech. Huge thank you to Daniel Hoadley, James McCallion, Lluis Faus and Angel Faus for the opportunity! Let’s go! 🚀 * The lawyer in me insists I note: all references to Clio are “pending regulatory approval”. 😅

Do you know what your legal AI platform’s foundation models have stored about your client? Many lawyers don’t realize there’s a critical distinction between their AI platform storing data (like case management software) and third-party foundation models storing data. Your legal AI platform may save your chat history. That’s expected—just like your email account saves emails with your client. But what if the foundation models powering that platform are retaining your privileged communications? That’s a third party storing attorney-client communications. And that creates serious privilege waiver risks. In the recent OpenAI discovery case, only users with explicit zero data retention agreements found their data unaffected by court preservation orders. Everyone else’s privileged communications became subject to indefinite retention. Read the full article to learn how zero data retention works, why it matters for attorney-client privilege, and what questions to ask your legal AI vendor: https://hubs.li/Q03PswrL0 #VincentAI #ZeroDataRetention #ZDR #LegalAI #GenAI #LegalEthics #LegalTech
