HCA Director Ryan Moran joined the Washington Association of Community Health roundtable this week alongside community health center executives and key Legislative members from House and Senate Health Care and Budget committees. These health care leaders from around the state spent the morning discussing the challenges that the delivery system will face in the coming year as the state grapples with major federal changes to the Medicaid program and difficult state budget conditions. The meeting was an opportunity share notes on delivery-system, agency, and legislative concerns and begin the collaboration necessary to address them. Ryan shared notes on HCA’s mission and central role supporting the state’s implementation of major Medicaid reforms – inclusive of our staff’s tireless effort to mitigate impacts to our clients. Clinic representatives told stories about the people they serve, unique access their CHC’s afford, their funding streams, and the impacts Medicaid enrollment loss will have on their sustainability. Roundtable participants acknowledged the discussion was only the start of the work ahead, but remained open to ensuring provider, legislator, and executive branch voices are all heard as the state turns towards the 2026 legislative session.
