Addressing The Hindu’ discussion on ‘AI in Law: Learning the Techniques and guardrails’ held on 18th Oct 2025, Prof. Balaraman Ravindran (@ravi_iitm), Head of CeRAI & WSAI, IIT Madras, said, “AI is being widely deployed...In the Indian context, a lot of work has been done on what kind of biases the AI bring into play. One of the things that Centre for Responsible AI at IIT Madras is involving with is how can we systematically gather data?...Like any engineering system, before we deploy in production, it has to be evaluated very extensively making ensure it satisfies all safety norms. But we do not what is the appropriate way of testing AI system, yet.” Further, Dr. Gokul S. A new application, “Conversational AI Evaluation Tool” was recently launched at our Conclave on AI Governance, organised by WSAI & CeRAI.
