We’re proud to celebrate several outstanding results from our team: 👏 Alicia Freed achieved a positive resolution in a residential construction defect arbitration, protecting our client and its insurers from significantly higher exposure. 👏 Emily Grantham wrote and argued a Motion for Summary Judgment that was granted, disposing of the entire case. 👏 Edward "Trey" John H. secured a strong trial victory for our client. This marks his second trial win in just six months with the firm—an impressive start. 👏Jonathan Davenport successfully argued and prevailed on a motion for summary judgment. 👏 Leigh Lewis and Jonathan Davenport worked together to secure a favorable jury verdict in a challenging trial. Pictured: big smiles in the courtroom after a hard-earned win! These results highlight the talent, dedication, and teamwork that define our firm. Congratulations to all!

This week, our Dallas and Decatur offices joined together for our annual firm-wide trip to the Rangers game! Events like this are a great opportunity to strengthen connections across our teams, enjoy time together outside of the office, and celebrate the collaborative culture that makes our firm thrive. An added bonus—the Rangers brought home a win!

Our 2025 Summer Clerkship Program has officially come to a close! We had an amazing time spending the past 10 weeks with such a talented, motivated, and engaging group of law students across our Dallas, Houston, and Austin offices. From meaningful legal work to memorable outings and team events, this summer was full of connection, growth, and great moments! We’re excited to see where their paths lead and have no doubt they each have bright futures ahead!

Summer is flying by, and the clerks in our Dallas office have made every moment count! From a day at Choctaw Casino to exploring the Perot Museum, and even hitting the field for our firm’s softball team, they’ve brought enthusiasm, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit to everything they do! It’s been great having them as part of the team, and we’re looking forward to seeing all they accomplish in the weeks ahead!

☀️ Nothing says “first day of summer” like a good old-fashioned picnic! WBC Dallas enjoyed a relaxed afternoon filled with sandwiches, pasta salad, fresh fruit, cookies, chips, and a variety of sweet teas! It was the perfect way to welcome the season and spend time together outside of our usual routines. Cheers to a great summer ahead—and to the wonderful team that makes WBC such a great place to work!

🎉 Congratulations to Trey Holm of Walters Balido & Crain for securing a no negligence finding for our client in a case tried last week. Trey, who joined the firm just over two months ago, stepped up without hesitation to take a case to trial in Harris County that had been previously worked up by our Dallas office. His strong advocacy led the jury to find no negligence on our client—a great result and an impressive early win for Trey! Great work, Trey.

🎉 Congratulations to Todd Parks, Sarah Long, and Jean Siska of Walters Balido & Crain for securing a significant dram shop summary judgment in Dallas County which was affirmed by the Texas Supreme Court! In Myers v. Khan, our attorneys successfully defended Cadot Restaurant in a dram shop case involving a late-night automobile crash in Dallas. The plaintiff, who was seriously injured, argued that Cadot had over-served the driver and was therefore liable under the Texas Dram Shop Act. After winning summary judgment at the trial court level, the trial court decision was reversed by the Fifth District Court of Appeals. The Texas Supreme Court accepted the case and affirmed the trial court summary judgment in favor of Cadot, holding that there was insufficient evidence to establish the essential element of visible intoxication at the time of service. This win reflects the outstanding work of Todd, Sarah, and Jean, and their unwavering commitment to our client’s defense. Special thanks to Steven J. Knight, who handled the case on appeal in the Fifth District Court of Appeals and the Texas Supreme Court. Another great win for WBC and a meaningful contribution to Texas dram shop case law!
