About us
Washington Trails Association mobilizes hikers and everyone who loves the outdoors to explore, steward and champion trails and public lands. Everyone deserves to have opportunities to recreate outdoors and to have safe, welcoming and inclusive experiences on trail. If there’s one thing we know — it’s that trails and access to the outdoors are a must-have. Help us ensure more people have access to the benefits of time spent in nature. Let’s build that future together. We are a collaborative and fun community of passionate individuals, motivating each other to give our best efforts at work. Although we may be tackling some of the biggest problems facing hikers and public lands — we inspire and challenge each other to be fierce, take risks and celebrate when we can. This year's Emerging Leaders Program has officially wrapped up! The program, which marked its fifth year of supporting early career professionals to get access to the outdoor industry, came to a close last month. This year's cohort developed professional skills, gained technical certifications, orchestrated independent projects and put in a bunch of time on trail. Join us in celebrating their amazing season 💪🏽: https://lnkd.in/gJEv84KA #Leadership #NonProfit #Outdoors

Our Honda Passport Trailsport “Wallace,” generously donated by our partners at Western Washington Honda Dealers, has been on a real roll so far this year supporting WTA’s Outdoor Leadership Training program. This program gets school-age youth outside by empowering teachers and youth program facilitators with resources to lead safe and fun outdoor experiences. In March, Wallace helped transport snowshoes and other gear to Gold Creek Pond for a snowshoeing workshop to train five leaders. WTA staff also recently took Wallace for a spin to Point Defiance Park to deliver rain gear, trekking poles and more for a hiking workshop where we trained nine leaders. Thanks to our partners at Western Washington Honda Dealers for helping us drive our mission forward and make the outdoors more accessible for all! 📸 Photos by MJ Mahan and Andrea Michelbach #DriveGood #Honda #Partnership #NonProfit #Washington

Despite an incredibly difficult legislative session, Washington state’s budget for the next 2 years includes essential funding for our outdoor places. You helped WTA make the case to protect funding for our state’s recreation lands — and were successful. Members of Everett Community College's Students for Environmental Action Club know the value of getting outside — and the importance of trail maintenance. That's why they sat down with WTA to learn about our recent trail maintenance at Everett's Loganberry Lane. Learn how trail maintenance and WTA trip reports help hikers get on trail, as told by The Clipper 📰: https://lnkd.in/ge9A3aNE

Decades of underinvestment have resulted in a trail system that is not adequate for today or for the future. Now, with federal staffing and budget cuts, our trails face even more challenges. Amidst so much uncertainty, Washington Trails Association remains consistent — we help maintain your access to public lands by repairing and building trails and providing you with reliable online resources to help you get outside safely and responsibly. With over half of WTA's funding coming from individuals, we need your support during #GiveBIG to power this essential work. You can become a member by making a donation of any amount: wta.org/givenow Together, we can support a sustainable trail system that connects everyone to the countless benefits of time in nature. 📸 Photo courtesy of Dale Blair #WAGives #ThatGivingFeeling
