Lou Martinez Sancho, Ph.D, MBB, Westinghouse CTO and EVP of R&D and Innovation, led a panel conversation on the WNE 2025 main stage this week. Moderated by Cécile Maisonneuve, the panel included our partners Databricks, Google Cloud, Spie batignolles and Constellation. They discussed how AI and digital technologies - such as Westinghouse’s HiVE™ and bertha™ nuclear AI solutions - can expedite construction of new nuclear reactors, like our advanced AP1000® modular reactor. 🏆 It's an honor to have won a #WNE2025 Innovation Award, in recognition of our work for a new VVER-440 fuel design. This project has been critical for energy security in Ukraine since our first VVER delivery to Rivne Nuclear Power Plant in 2023, with most of the design and manufacturing coming from the Westinghouse Vasteras Fuel Fabrication Facility in Sweden. This is a historic announcement for the #Pittsburgh region and for Pennsylvania. Congratulations Westinghouse Electric Company on securing this partnership wtih the federal government to build the future of nuclear by deploying AP1000s across the country. Each new reactor will create thousands of new jobs, many of those in our backyard, in Cranberry, PA. This positions Pennsylvania to be the national hub for advanced nuclear.
