There's pride in every Whataburger.
About us
On Aug. 8, 1950, an adventurous and determined entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson opened up the world’s first Whataburger on Ayers Street in Corpus Christi, Texas. He had a simple goal: to serve a burger so big it took two hands to hold and so good that after one bite customers would say, “What a burger!” He succeeded on both counts and turned that one little burger stand into a legend loved throughout Texas and the South. Today, each and every Whataburger is made to order, right when it’s ordered. And they’re still made with 100 percent pure, never-frozen beef and served on a big toasted five-inch bun with all “the extras” to suit your taste. Grilled jalapeños, extra bacon, three slices of cheese, no tomatoes, extra pickles? No problem. Your Whataburger will be made just like you like it, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whataburger’s following has grown exponentially in its more than 75-year history, thanks to a number of features, including its famous burgers and growing list of menu items, its iconic orange-and-white-striped restaurants and its famous Fancy Ketchup. Whataburger is more than a burger chain. It’s a place that feels like home to more than 51,000 employees, called Family Members, and millions of customers. It’s a brand built on pride, care and love. It’s a place people count on in their communities. It’s a place where goodness lives. So now with more than 1,100 Whataburger restaurants across 16 states stretching from Las Vegas to the Carolinas, road-trippers and hometown folks alike continue gathering under the big orange-and-white roofs for fresh, made-to-order burgers and friendly service.

We took it back to 1950s for the Battle of the Flowers Parade in San Antonio over the weekend, and it was a hand-jiving hit, placing fourth in the commercial floats division! We were proud to represent Whataburger in our hometown and sponsor one of the parade's Fun Zones as we celebrate our 75th anniversary this year.

We're excited to celebrate the San Antonio tradition of Fiesta and the Battle of the Flowers Parade this weekend, but before we show you our float, check out this one from fourth grader Elin Stolhandske! Elin reached out to ask if she could have a Whataburger table tent for her shoebox-sized Fiesta float for Coker Elementary's hallway parade, and we decided to go a little bigger. We brought Elin and her family up to Whataburger HQ for a tour and to hand-pick some swag to make sure her float was looking fabulous as she was crowned the fourth-grade princess for her school’s Fiesta Court! 👸 FULL STORY: https://lnkd.in/ge3i7XmD

Last week, Whataguy made a surprise visit to Trinity University — and let’s just say, he understood the assignment. As students powered through midterms, Whataguy brought the energy (and the dance moves) to campus with some friendly mascot games, including a fun run, obstacle course, and a dance off. He may have walked away with the win, but more importantly, he brought a whole lot of smiles and support to students during a stressful time. At Whataburger, we believe in feeding more than just appetites — we're here to feed student success. Way to go, Tigers! 🧡🐯🍔

San Antonio is buzzing with basketball energy, so we brought the ultimate game-day experience to our fans. 🏀🔥 We teamed up with On3 to bring the Andy & Ari podcast for a live show from our food truck, including an epic WhataWings eating contest refereed by our very own Chef James. 👨🍳 Fans showed up, showed out, and enjoyed the Whataburger Lounge, yard games, and exclusive swag. A huge shoutout to the fans who joined us! 🧡 #On3BringsHomeTheW

We're bringing the W to NC! This month, our team took the food truck on the road for a series of events across North Carolina as we get ready to open our first locations in the Tar Heel state. The first two Whataburger locations are on track to greet customers this June in Gastonia and Hickory, N.C., with eight more locations to follow in 2025! Thank you to the wonderful people and local leaders of Gastonia, Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh who made us feel so welcome. We can't wait to provide the same hospitality to you and all of our North Carolinian customers in the years to come!
