So, it’s really happening—I’m turning 60 and stepping onto the stage. For the first time outside of church plays and divinity school, I’ll be acting in a staged reading of August Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean—my favorite play by my favorite playwright. It’s bold, meaningful, and a little scary. And it’s for a good cause. This special event benefits Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, an institution known for bold, relevant, and necessary storytelling—and dare I say, woke theater. I’m deeply grateful to Kimberly Douglass and her phenomenal team at Woolly for turning a dream into reality.
