What. A. Week. Just wrapped up an incredible week in Austin hosting Workweek Upfronts, and I couldn’t be prouder of this team. The energy, creativity, and collaboration on display were unmatched. From inspiring conversations with our partners to seeing big ideas come to life, this week was a reminder of why we do what we do. A special shoutout to Hebba Youssef for celebrating 3 incredible years leading I Hate It Here! Your voice has sparked important conversations and made a lasting impact, and we’re so lucky to be on this journey with you. Grateful for this team, our partners, and the future we’re building together. 🚀

"Have you ever thought of creating content?" Three years ago, we launched I Hate it Here to the world. What started with that question has become so much more. We've gone from 1 weekly newsletter to three, launched a podcast, hosted a monthly virtual event series, built a community of HR leaders, created in-person summits, and so much more. What a wild ride it's been. 📣 Without the incredible team behind me, it would be IMPOSSIBLE. There are so many incredible people working behind the scenes to make things come to life. But there are two people who changed everything for me: Adam Ryan and Becca Sherman. From my very first call with them, it was clear that they were different. There was no ego, no posturing, just real curiosity, honest conversations, and a deep belief that they wanted to build a great company and have fun. Working alongside them as their HR person has been one of my *favorite roles.* And creating content only happened because they saw something in me that I had yet to see. ❤️ Hitting three years has been an incredible milestone, and I'll always be grateful to Adam and Becca for making my dreams come true, creating space for me to be me, and believing in my hopes, wishes, and dreams. Without your never-ending support, I wouldn't be here, and I cannot wait for what's to come.

📣 We're less than 50 days away from the most important event of the year.... (According to me) ✨The Safe Space Summit ✨ I've been heads down this summer sourcing the best speakers I can find, curating content that is relevant AND actionable, and attempting to build something a bit different from the usual HR conference. And I'M SO FREAKING EXCITED about this experience. Here's a sneak peek at what to expect: ✅ A session on leading through wild times ✅ A masterclass on navigating change at work ✅ A fireside chat about the CEO <> HR relationship ✅ Proprietary research around learning, reskilling, and performance ✅ A case study on integrating AI into your workflows with REAL examples ✅ A panel on HR tech and the future of work ✅ A TON OF FUN 🔥 Speakers include: Jennifer Laurie (they/she) Lindsay Verstegen Elaine Page Erin L. Thomas, PhD Sarika Lamont And more to come... Here's the dealio: tomorrow is the last day to grab early rate passes, so if you still plan on joining, apply from the link in the comments and share with all your HR friends. ❤️ This event is going to be SO special. A day built by HR for HR so you can actually address your toughest challenges. #hr

📣 6% of Gen Z workers surveyed say reaching a leadership position is their primary goal. Source: Deloitte's 2025 Gen Z and Millennial Survey Ciara Lakhani joins me on the I Hate it Here pod to talk about why employees might not want the top job anymore.... But if no one wants the top job... how will this impact succession or career planning? 🎧 Listen from the link in the comments or wherever you get your pods to hear more. #hr

I have to say it was definitely the most challenging feature I've ever worked on. I'm thrilled to be revolutionizing the world of social media with Workweek.

We just killed the like button. Why? Because it means nothing. A “like” when someone needs advice on letting an employee go? A “like” when someone asks for help with a vendor? It’s lazy. It’s outdated. It adds noise, not signal. Workweek is building a new kind of social platform. One built for business leaders. Leaders who want to grow. Who need someone to commiserate with. Who want a trusted space to talk shop. But traditional social platforms like this one don’t optimize for those conversations. They reward dopamine loops, posturing, and engagement bait. They’re built to boost DAUs, not your career. We’re not doing that. So we removed likes. We removed emojis. In their place: - Context-aware reactions powered by AI that drive easy connections - Private replies that actually start conversations - No AI slop in the comments. As always, only real verified people, talking to each other This isn’t about going viral. It’s about providing value. Real signal. Real connection. Real outcomes. And today, we got a little closer to that.

  • Big day for bank nerds. Because Fintech Takes isn't a newsletter anymore. It's a network. Welcome Kiah Lau Haslett, and introducing Fintech Takes Banking! 👇👇👇

    Creator, Fintech Takes Banking

Hi everyone! Wanted to share some very exciting personal news: I am joining Fintech Takes to launch a bank newsletter! You know I love being part of the bank nerd community, and the Fintech Takes NETWORK (!!) is a way for me to share even more of my curiosity and passion. Alex and I have spent 2+ years on Bank Nerd Corner thinking about how technology is changing how banks operate and who they compete against. We've talked about the supervisory perimeter, hot or not deposits and whether anyone knows what the Bank Service Company Act actually means (anyone?). You can expect more of that from me in my weekly newsletter, which launches soon. I want you to be among the first to receive it — the link to sign up is in the comments! In the meantime, make sure you're a member of the Fintech Takes Network, where we're having the best financial service conversations with the coolest people. Application link also in the comments. =)

    Marketing and Communications

I am a big fan of The Marketing Millennials' accounts and newsletter. I recently joined their platform, Marketingland, and made an anonymous post after someone in my company recently asked what I do other than take pictures.. UGH! Then my boss talked to me about expanding our department and asked me what I wanted to focus on and what we wanted to hire for. I couldn't answer. I didn't know what my specialty was anymore because I handle so many different marketing tasks. A post I made, being frustrated with myself, ended up getting responded to by the marketing millennial founder in the most positive way! Friendly reminder, you are always doing better than you think! Follow In-Telecom to support my current work! Daniel Murray: "Generalist ≠ lost. It means you can do it all…and that’s why you keep getting hired. Social, paid, events, sponsorships? That’s not confusion. That’s range. You’re not behind. You’re dangerous. Generalists are the future."
