Ever had your manager say, “Can we talk?” and instantly assumed you’re about to get fired? 😬 That’s catastrophising - when our brains jump straight to the worst-case scenario, even when there’s no evidence that it’s true. Catastrophising is more common than we realise, especially when we’re under stress, but the good news is: There are ways to break that mental loop. Psychologist and Chief of Clinical Services at Wysa, Smriti Joshi, shares insights in this Verywell Mind article on why we catastrophise and how to stop it from simple thought reframing techniques to mindfulness and therapy. 👉 Read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/eevyC-h2 #MentalHealth #Catastrophising #Confidence #SelfEsteem #Depression #Anxiety

"We cannot leave vulnerable people to wander the desert of under-regulated, unstructured and open-source mental health advice." - Paul Murray Read the full FT Adviser article here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ekV8xKDr
Is there a future for AI in mental health care? As Paul Murray, CEO Life & Health Reinsurance at Swiss Re, explains via FT Adviser, when people’s wellbeing is at stake, responsibility is non-negotiable. AI tools designed to support mental health must be fit for purpose, contain robust safeguards, and connect individuals to expert help quickly and safely. Swiss Re’s partner Wysa for example, demonstrates there's great potential when this is done right. They have found that AI builds trust three times faster than humans, and among highly-engaged users, has helped reduce depression by 31% and anxiety by 40% — equivalent to six to eight therapy sessions. The opportunity for impact is real, but only if we keep AI in mental health both responsible and human-centered. 👉 Read the FT Adviser article: https://ow.ly/hBoh50Xb2zO

Wysa’s new research shows that loneliness is more closely linked with physical and mental ill health than with any other demographic. It correlates with both mind and body, higher rates of pain, fatigue, insomnia, and depression. While living with others might seem protective, the study reveals that connection matters more than cohabitation. Fewer than half of those struggling access professional help, and only one in three find it easy. Tackling this calls for collaborative, integrated care, where human support is strengthened by digital tools. 🔗 Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/g8EPucYA
