About us

X-energy is delivering the next generation of carbon-free energy by reinventing nuclear power. We believe in leaving a cleaner planet for our children and grandchildren, while continuing to provide sufficient and affordable power to sustain growing populations around the world. That is why we have reinvented nuclear power, with a unique combination of proven technologies and new innovations, to meet our current and future needs. X-energy manufactures fuel that seals uranium particles in a protective coating, which makes meltdown impossible and retains the waste inside forever. We also design plants that unlock the fuel’s potential in a process that’s as clean as wind or solar. When combined, the result is reliable carbon-free baseload power, produced more safely and affordable than ever before and available anywhere, at any time.

  • We held our annual company celebration at the National Air and Space Museum last week, a venue that embodies the spirit of progress and innovation. We were honored to celebrate the team members who bring that same spirit to their work every day, making our mission possible. Congratulations to our Xe-er of the Year award winners, Jennifer Wheeler, PE and Brandon Blamer, whose extraordinary leadership and partnership brought TX-1 from vision to reality. Their work represents the milestone achievements and dedication that define X-energy at its best. We also honored our Iron of the Company award recipients: Kyle Heintz, Rachel Keathley, Sam Keener, Robert Leone, Alistair Black, Kai Zhang, and Carrie Brown. These individuals go above and beyond every day across various departments to drive our continued growth and success. The year ahead is full of exciting milestones. Here's to the team that’s helping us solve for what's next.

  • TX-1 is rising! This past week marked two major milestones for our first-in-the-nation TRISO fuel fabrication facility in Oak Ridge, TN: One week ago today, on January 19, we completed the concrete foundation for TX-1, involving over 13,000 cubic yards of concrete poured since November across more than 1,400 truckloads. Two days later, on January 21, we erected our first structural steel beams, commencing vertical construction on the first new NRC-licensed fuel facility in over 50 years. TX-1 is a defining step in our journey to bring new nuclear technology to market and a cornerstone of the work taking place each day at X-energy and TRISO-X. This progress reflects the dedication, discipline, and collaboration of our construction, quality, and regulatory teams, many of whom worked overnight to ensure these milestones were achieved successfully. We are moving closer to securing a stable, domestic supply of high-quality fuel for the Xe-100 to continue to advance U.S. energy independence.

  • With the enactment of the Fiscal Year 2026 Energy and Water Appropriations Act, Congress has reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to energy leadership, abundance, and long-term security. We are grateful for the leadership of Chairman Chuck Fleischmann and the Energy and Water Development Subcommittee, as well as the bipartisan support across Congress that made this legislation possible. The Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program is the clearest roadmap to date for American energy dominance powered by new nuclear: a clear, disciplined pathway that enables the private sector to lead the nuclear renaissance from first-of-a-kind to full commercial scale. Since ARDP was awarded, X-energy has advanced from concept to a commercial pipeline totaling 11 gigawatts across 144 Xe-100 reactors—a powerful story of American innovation made possible by sustained congressional support. We look forward to continuing our work with the Trump Administration and Congress to extend the promise of safe, reliable nuclear energy beyond electricity generation and into the industrial manufacturing shaping the 21st-century economy.

  • X-energy and SGL Carbon have signed a 10-year supply agreement to make SGL’s NBG-18 medium-grain graphite a core component of the Xe-100. This includes an initial contract of over $100 million for our first project with Dow, a capacity reservation for the Cascade Advanced Energy Facility with Energy Northwest and Amazon, and a strong foundation for collaboration on future projects. Scaling the future of energy requires partners who have mastered the world’s most demanding industries. In addition to their experience in the nuclear sector, SGL brings a proven track record of innovation from aerospace to semiconductors. Through our partnership, that elite manufacturing depth has now arrived in the advanced nuclear sector with production already underway. Together with our partners, this marks another step forward in building a supply chain capable of deploying new nuclear not just once, but at full commercial scale.
