Our Pawtucket Family YMCA team joined together this morning to clean up our city and show pride in the Pawtucket community!

On Friday morning, the YMCA of Pawtucket joined Smithfield YMCA, Newport County YMCA, YMCA of Greater Providence, and Ocean Community YMCAs at the RI YMCA Alliance Breakfast to celebrate our Volunteers of the Year! We’re proud to announce that Jason Hernandez, VP of Community Outreach at Coastal1 Credit Union, has been named the YMCA of Pawtucket’s Volunteer of the Year! Jason’s years of service on our Board of Directors have strengthened our YMCA through fundraising, community connections, and volunteerism. Last Saturday, our MacColl Pedal Pushers team laced up and walked with purpose at the Parkinson’s Walk! Together, we raised $1,800 to support our community partner, the APDA! Fitness doesn't stop at the Y! This past weekend, our own staff members (Kathleen - MacColl, Marisa - MacColl, Lyonel - Pawtucket Family, and Ryan - Camp Westwood) took their passion beyond the gym floor and competed in HYROX Boston alongside their friends. We're proud to see our staff leading the way in strength, endurance, and community. Great job!

Last week, we teamed up with Citizens Bank’s Early Career Development Program to explore fresh ways to showcase that the YMCA is more than just a gym & swim — we’re a true community outreach organization. Five teams — about 40 employees from the 130 in the program — took on the challenge, each bringing their own creativity and perspective. By week’s end, we had five impressive presentations and the tough job of picking just one winner. While one team took the top spot, every group shared ideas we’re excited to bring to life.

This morning, Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy and the Pawtucket Family YMCA hosted local community members for a tour of BVP's new PRYDE Campus, a nod to both BVP's organizational PRIDE values and partnership with the YMCA. BVP invested $5M to renovate several floors of the Pawtucket Family YMCA to create additional educational space, which will also expand the number of students BVP can serve. Students in 11th and 12th grade will take traditional high school courses at the PRYDE Campus as well as they will have opportunities to access College and Career Planning services and unique PE curricula such as swimming and rock climbing. Additionally, students will have access to part-time jobs and internship opportunities both at the YMCA and in the community. We want to extend a special thank you to all who came out this morning! We are so excited to welcome students at the end of this month!
