Your team members keep overcommitting in Agile sprint planning. How do you get them back on track?
I rely on team retrospectives and fostering an environment where team members openly communicate what worked and didn’t work in prior sprints. When enough trust is built within the team we can learn the root cause of the over commitment. I also connect 1:1 with team members to solicit feedback they may not feel comfortable sharing with the larger group. Finally, I speak with their stakeholders to understand what commitments they have made to understand 2nd and 3rd degree dependencies. Armed with that knowledge I can better work with the team setting goals.
