Such events are associated with an inordinate percentage of poor outcomes for NAS users and the flying public, and will continue to impact the NAS even as NextGen systems are deployed.

Improvements in planning, execution, operational review, training, and the integration of lessons learned into NAS operations and technology are needed in order to ensure the success of NextGen in transforming the NAS to a more efficient system.

The Planning, Execution, Review, Training, Improvement (PERTI) process described here provides a means to accelerate the transformation of the NAS that NextGen promises.

  • Device, System and Method for Dynamic Airspace Use

    Issued US 20180130358A1

A device, system, and method dynamically determines airspace availability. The method performed at an airspace predictor server includes determining a current condition present at an airport. The method includes querying historical data having a historical condition that is substantially similar to the current condition. The method includes determining a portion of a zone surrounding the airport that was utilized by aircraft under the historical condition. The method includes determining an…

Route Availability Planning Tool (RAPT). An automated decision support tool that predicts the availability of air traffic routes during thunderstorms. RAPT was designed to help relieve the burden typically faced by air traffic managers, particularly during periods of thunderstorm activity: gathering weather information, mentally envisioning the repercussions of the weather data, rechecking for rapidly changing weather, and then deciding when to allow aircraft to depart.
